I went to my sisters today who lives about 20 miles south of were I live. I noticed that my rpm's ran about 8500-9000 for a short with only about half-3/4 throttle. Is this to much for my 80cc motor because the last thing I would want to red-line it and fry the motor?

That is about right for a 2 stroke, they rev high that is how they make the power. Four strokes do not have to rev high to make power. Also because of the BBK they are able to rev higher. Alleyoop

I think he has a four stroke Alley, is that right PJ? In which case I'd say that's too high for 1/2 to 3/4 throttle. You sure your tach is set up right? I had to program my Tiny Tach for my engine. Did it sound like it was really winding out? Rich

My scooter is a 4 stroke and I only have a stock tach that came with the scooter.

The stock tach/RPM gauges on the Chinese scooters are not exactly the most accurate. My scooter seems to run about the same actually.
You can always get a Tiny Tach and install it for about 30 bucks.
