Maby im nuts but I dont see that much delta between 250 and 300. When the 500 is available Ill look at them but for now Im going 250 water cooled. (Because Va has made 50 cc about illegal I started looking). Settled out on 250 liquid cooled. Considerations, mountain roads and gravel (300 cc seems to like 10 inch rear tire), which leaves me uneasy. Also 8 C.M. shorter wheelbase on 250 will be better in the good paved turns and the 13 inch tires will handle gravel and dirt better. Pay load on shorter bike is 30 lb more than the bigger one. Sent E-mail to Scrappy Dog about parts, no problem. Other than running my big fat mouth I think what I am saying is 250 & 300 are going to be close on Hi-way, both run with traffic. Fuel consumption 250 less than 300 by 8MPG. Initioal Dollar Delta, about a $1000.00 bucks. Loss with 250, big wind diverting faring, Im a windshield guy anyway. Last Harley Road King had windshield that will do.

89newbie water cooled can be a quick cut to better quality and speed, good luck with it. you say Virginia has almost outlawed 50 cc scoots, how so? Read post VA. GOV IDIOTS.

Not to rain on your idea of a Chinese 250 but if I may refer to your original post:
May be accepting job 67 miles away, thats one way,
If we do the math that's 134 miles a day, 670 miles a week, 2680 miles a month. That's some pretty heavy mileage, for anything. If you have your heart set on a scooter, and a 250 to boot, I would still keep my eye open for something Japanese, Korean or Taiwanese in the used scooter market. You'll be racking up some pretty serious mileage in no time flat and will need a good tool for the job. Maybe even a Piaggio BV 250 if you could find one at a decent price.

I just got rid of a Road King. The idea of having all that weight the heat in the summer is not me. I dont want to straddle an engine. As for other rides there is A 2003 Mustang Mach One, A Dodge Dakota A Toyota Corolla If its too challenging I can take the 28 foot Motorhome and rest along the way. ;D Also if the job is worth having Ill move closer.Hey thanks you made me realize I can kill two birds with one stone leave the motorhome there and stay overnight!!( But Ill miss the dogs and horses and the coyotees and the cows mooing, thanks great idea!!
