A Dr. Rich How's it going my friend?? A side gaped spark plug, turn a standard spark plug into more of a high performance spark plug w/ out the expense.. Side gaping is a method used for performance w/ in the racing industry & 2 stroke outboard industry before the Iridium & Denso plugs, & is still used by many still today.. Here is good information about side gaping & how to do it.. These links below illustrate & explain better than I can.. www.performanceunlimited.com/documents/plugsidegapping.htmlperformanceunlimited.com/illustrations/sparkplugs.htmlNow if you want to go all out & fancy, check out how to index your side gaped spark plug... Click on the link below & scroll to the bottom of page.. youroilshop.com/plugs.htmNow I've only side gaped spark plugs & have never indexed one, mostly because I haven't found anyone who supplies 10mm indexing washers.. Need to have an engine machine shop make up different thickness 10mm indexing washers.. David Sr.

OK, my NGK Iridium plug did come with a .026 gap setting as it did with the previous Iridium plug it is replacing. As far as a stock scooter goes I'm not sure what constitutes stock. UNI air filter,40 pilot jet and now a 125 main jet, Mikuni fuel filter, all new hoses, vacuum and fuel. Totally new variator, sliders, and clutch including contra spring. Hmmm and of course the Iridium plug. I have fooled around with the NGK C7HSA plug and set it at .032 and have found no difference between the two plugs.
With the changes I have made I went from a scooter which ran like crap to a scooter which starts, never stalls, doesn't bog down at all, gets good fuel mileage, and keeps up with traffic.

Forgot to mention I added a no rev limit CDI and a HP coil. You can all tell me if I am running stock... Thanks Speed Racer

speedracer No, that's not stock.. If it's running good, I don't understand what the problem is...

Doc Rich Ya, I'm run a side gaped plug in my "08 Longbo scoot, because the head I put on it, I had to tap it for a 14mm spark plug.. The only Iridium spark plug in a 14mm w/ the right reach & heat range is by Denso which is a foreign plug, & I've only found them outside the U.S. So I side gap a standard Champion plug to get as much performance out of it as possible..

Well, Well, Well!!! Just for the heck of it, I thought I'd try a different angle on this 14mm Iridium spark plug.. I hadn't been able to find 14mm Iridium in an NGK plug.. So just for the heck of it I cross referenced the Denso Iridium IWF22 plug, which brought up a NGK Iridium BR7HIX.. Good Deal!!

It just so happens that the two Iridium NGK plugs I purchased have a gap of .026. If NGK makes an Iridium plug with a larger gap I wish they would advertise it.
