sorry fella
I could not dig thru your meaning, but appears you have problem with similarity of two.
hope this helps
a ram jet operates best at high speeds by ramming air in the hole see? and like a fan it works best at high speed, mach 3 up=
and like a cooling fan a ram jet stops working well at real high speed mach 7
an engine fan works best by ramming air in shroud see?.
I used the word sorta some where in that post.
by "Sorta" i mean it Sorta is the same, both ramming air to work.
I think ce thought with a scoop he could ram more air in shroud but forgot about fan blocking flow
I did not mean you should put gas in fan hole and light with match, to speed up engine, even ally won't do that, let alone me.
ce i have a record called --TONTO'S EXPANDING HEAD BAND Earthman, Like I said a ramjet uses fuel. Obviously I know fuel would not be injected in to the scoop. And guess what I also know that the scooter doesn't go mach 3. So lets just use common sense and make realistic assumptions. Here is a picture of an actual ramjet which utilizes many cool thermodynamic basics. Here is a picture in case you don't know here is the link if the pic didnt work en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ramjet

Ramjets? Maybe I should go back and read this whole thread. It seems to have wandered far astray from ce's cooling shroud. Oh well, that's what forums are for, to promote deep thought; and whatever the hell it is you guys are indulging in. Anyway, I adjusted the valves on my Pegasus and invited the wife to chase me around our standard course that we use when we want to blow off some steam. And then we got on the scooters.....BA-DUMP! It's the same route that I used when I first tried ce's scoop and the outside temperature was about the same. When I got back I immediately stuck the thermometer in the Silver Streak like I did on the oil temp test. This is what I got:
I forget what the readings were before the scoop, I'll have to go back and look.

This is from the original test, it looks to be about the same. Well, it didn't hurt anything and I think it looks really cul. I'll try to do some comparison tests for low speed and idle and see what that shows.

Well EM, the Pegasus doesn't have anywhere to mount ce's scoop if that's what you meant. There's a water pump where the fan is located on a standard GY6:
I see the Peg's engine referred to as a GY6-B, but the more I work on it the more I wouldn't call it a GY6 at all. The plug is on the left side and neither standard plug socket fits it, I have to use a long 3/4" if I remember right. I'm sure it's a mm equivalent. The nut on the variator is a huge 22mm I think. I haven't had the CVT cover off yet but I'm sure none of the standard parts would work. The water cooling is going to make the cylinder completely different. When I set the valves the other day I realized the head was a different animal all together. The cam lobes looked huge too compared to my Peace 150s and my Motorino 150. It may be a horizontal engine but I just don't see GY6 anywhere. I'm not being a snob about this, it just a reasoned observation.
