Installed vasriator from Scrappy dog, same size rollers 6g. Did not change Contra needed 14 mm 1/2 socket., got that tonight. Factory spring so weak I can move pulley back and forth with my fingers, with no problem, factory is blue or green. Results so far. Acceleration a little better, Runs at 7 grand instead of around 55 to 6. Pulls hills better, it now runs 20 to 24 on the bad one that was about 15 before. Tach shows downshifts at 6500 instread of 5400 keeps it moving better. I will do the Contra spring tomorrow. Looked at variator ramp differances stock vs aftermatket this is what I see, belt cone higher, old belt fit tight not loose. Roller face, factory almost flat to middle of grove then tapers upward. Aftermarket roller face uniform upward with no flat areas. Will update tomorrow after changing spring. Also wondering if 5 g rollers would make a delta, or 5 then 6 5 then 6 just to see what happens. Since sliders cost more would it be a benefit to use rollers to get the right combo and then order the correct size sliders? Wow even after the tuning we would get slider acelleration gains rofl. Comments appreciated.
P.S. 150 should be here Monday or tue as per dealer. Ya right holiday weekend maby a week from now rofl.

It sounds like you're pretty satisfied with the variator change out. Why not try that for a while and see if you like the way it performs? There are no hard and fast rules for these things, you think a certain contra is going to do a certain thing and you find you just went through a lot of wrenching only to make things worse. Your RPMs are better, 5.5 to 6K was too low. You could easily go up to 8 or 9 but it's more wear on your engine. JMO.

Yes variator makes a big diff, todays ride revealed I am running just under 7grand and shifting at 6600, the results from yesterday were with about me and 25.5 lb. of load, today is just me 185 to 190 lb., I have the yellow spring and e-mail from post that bando will be here tomorrow ill try the spring. I also want to get a set of 5g 16x13 rollers that way I will be able to fool with 5, 5.5 along with the 6. On these hills I would prefer to be running a little more RPM. to be in proper RPM. THis is actually a learning curve for the 150 that is coming. Speaking of I expect the 125 lights to suck just like the 50 so that is the next job.
