Well, I got New Reg/Rec. installed I put LED's in for my dash lights, Not sure I'm gonna like them yet, hard to tell fr sure but they aren't as bright as I had hoped, that could be a good thing though because the lights were actually bright enough before that they kinda bothered me while riding at night.

Anyway, all lights are working great now, I have a 45w headlight bulb and it is pretty dang bright, way better than the 25w that came in the scoot, my rear tail light and turn signals are LED's and work good, I left the standard bulbs in the front turn signals because the ones I had bought to replace them just didn't produce a bright enough light for my likings, I may order some more that have the LED's in a circular position around the bulb base instead of multiple LED's just facing the same direction, that type works great on the rear but not on the front turn signals.

Got my battery on the trikle charger right now gonna leave it on there all night, just to make sure that new battery is all the way up at it's peak charge.

I had ordered Rollers Uni Filter from MonsterGY6.com back on the 10th of July and still have not recieved my parts, so I called and they said they had been on vacation and my parts would ship out today, Dang it just the way it goes but I was sure hoping to get that stuff today or tomorrow, cant wait to get the Uni filter set up and my new exhaust on and maybe go up .5 grams on my roller weight, I have 3 10g and 3 14g rollers installed right now for a total of 12g equiv. it does pretty good but I hit 7500 RPM's @ about 52MPHI would like to get it down to 6800-7000 at that speed so I dont rev so high on the road trips.

I took the sliders out and chunked the so called High performance variator in the tool box I bought from scrappy dod and put my original variator and the rollers in it and it will run circles around the 14g sliders with that "115mm High Performance Variator" not sure about the sliders yet, I will try them again maybe but I'm just not convinced they offer that much bang for the extra buck.....

Oh and in the mini book I pecked out above I forgot to mention that only 2 of the bulbs were burnt out so it wasn't a bad deal at all.......very simple inexpensive fix.....! Just the way we like them to be.

Now if I can just get my other goodies in so I can get just a tad bit better sound and performance out of this little booger.

Now I'm confused a tad, I thought we had determined that your dash lights were off the yellow AC wire. LEDs are directional and shouldn't work wirh AC voltage. Rich

No I had dash lights with out the reg/rec even being on the scoot at all, but when it was off and I reved the engine up pretty high it blew the dash light bulbs, I have new led's installed and the new reg/rec installed and all is working great now, maybe I was getting AC to the bulbs without the reg. being hooked up but when it is maybe now they get a regulated dc voltage...?

Not sure how it all is working but I just know it is and I'm dang sure happy about that.

I went on a 61mile ride this morning and all is working perfectly, I changed my oil and have switched to using Lucas Semi Synthetic 10w-40 Motorcycle oil plus I put about 2 onces of Greased Lightning PTFE oil additive in also and I sure can tell a difference in how it is performing now, seems to have a bit better torque on the low end, compared to the 20w-50 Castrol Motorcycle oil I had in it, I think the 20w-50 was just to heavy of an oil even though it has been being 104 - 106 degrees here lately.

Having my headlights running straight off the battery power instead of the stator is something I'm really liking, they burn much brighter and don't dim down at idle like before, in my opinion so far this is the only way to go with the head lights.... wish I would have done that mod sooner.

That is what I thought also.. but they now have automotive LEDS that will run on AC...some kinda chip in the base. They also will hook-up either way and are no longer polarized...

You just never know!

Now thats got to be good oil as well, Castrol makes very good products and always has, my late uncle owned a Yamaha Dealership for most of my life and he wouldn't run anything and I mean anything else in any of his motorcycles or personal vehicles period, He was an engine builder and racer back in the late 60's early 70's and he swore by Castrol in everything he owned.

thats what I had in mine before but it wasn't the same oil as you are running and I was running the 20w-50 which is all they had at the time so that is why I got it, none of my local stores carries the oil you're running but I know it is good stuff because it's Castrol.

I paid $8.99 for a quart of the Lucas if I remember right, kinda high but 1 quart will do 2 oil changes so thats not to bad really and as long as my engine is getting great protection I'm happy with that price.

Me too.. they sponsored many races of mine in those days... kinda a loyalty thing

Yup... I also like Lucas and Amsoil...

I think the additives these companies put in their 4T oils is different and better suited to the hot running GY6 engines...

I see people buying any old oil off the gas station rack and wonder if they shouldn't spend a buck more and by something developed and manufactured for these small engines!

Oil is oil.. what I know is the difference is in how often you change it...especially on an unfiltered engine like the GY6.

Here is a trick.. I use 2 rare earth magnets on the sump spring before the screen.. you would be amazed at how much very, very fine metal they remove... they have to help...

On a final note I think you are right.. 20W50 is too viscose...the oil pumps are not great on these at best...I try and stick with 10W30..better oil flow

I agree completely on your take of the oils.

I also think that using the rare earth magnets on the spring is a great idea..... I'll be doing that one myself next time I change my oil... Thanks

And as to the oil pump, I've read several post by others that have said that the pumps in these engines are a bit weak in the knees so to speak and might have a hard time moving the heavier oil in a high enough volume to lube the engine like it needs to be.

I use a PTFE additive along with the high grade oil, it isn't all that expensive about $5 for an 8oz bottle but it sure is some slick stuff and in a high heat high pressure enviroment the slicker the better...., I use about 2 table spoons of it at every oil change, this stuff has so much Teflon in it that it is milky, it's in a base that is claimed to have other good additives for dealing with the high heat & high pressures.

It's called Greased Lightning Instant Engine Treatment and I use it in all of my air cooled 4 stroke engines and have been for a long time, I believe that it really does make a difference in reducing wear.

If you have access to some get soem of it and you'll see what I mean when you pour some out and/or get some of it on your finger, the stuff is extremely slick......

Be careful using that and you should calculate how much you use carefully...you can overdose on a small engine.

It's a PTFE ( Teflon ) OIL additive, ( Greased Lightning ) I use about 2 table spoons in the crankcase at each oil change.

I use a Lucas product in the fuel about ever 3rd - 4th fill up and I also use about 1 table spoon of it in the fuel.

no where near over doing it with Greased Lightning in the oil or Lucas in the fuel.

Wow, great stuff you guys, I learned a boatload. Now when are you two moving in together? ;D I'm glad you told me about the nondirectional LEDs Sprocket, that was driving me nuts trying to figure out what happened with his lights! I'm getting an external oil cooler together that has a temp sensor at the beginning and end of the system. I'm going to try some of those combitions of oil in it and see if one cools easier that the others. Rich
