Well I'm going to have to wait for the petcock either way before I can drive it again. I can't get to the hose from the tank to the petcock. I have to wait for the stripped screw kit to be able to access where it is. The funny thing is the petcock I see online that got good reviews from buyers who also bought it from him, is its from the same guy I got the carb from. LOL. The backout set is in cali and the carb is in texas right now as per usps online tracking. Oh the fuel filter def had fuel in it as I went to pull the other tube off the other side of it and get fuel all over. I can't believe the petcock could be bad on a new scooter or really anything bad on a new scooter for that matter. At the very least, I'm learning

Now it is starting to make sense why the scoot sometimes will run for 5 minutes 10 minutes and different lengths of time. If at times the fuel flows it fills up the bowl and you have gas, but if at times the Fuel is Not flowing to fill up the bowl it then will die. Alleyoop

Ya that sounds about right The dilema ^ I pulled the scooter up on the patio area to work on it, wish I could park it there all the time but other than a bicycle, if u park there, the landlord will have it towed Malarkey So i need to order a petock, and receive it and receive the back out kit to fix this. Oh also I'll have to get new bolts for the luggage rack but I can leave that off for a bit, I never use it.

oooo dumb question but would the scooter have to be ON while I was sucking the vac hose for the gas to come out of the fuel hose? also is the petcock the same thing as the fuel pump? cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=160616268016&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT is what I'm looking at buying It says 22mm, I guess that is standard? I can't tell what mine has since I can't get to it. I dont have a 22mm socket so I guess I'll have to go w/ the adjustable wrench I have.

Here is probably the PETCOCK you need. But see if you can get your hand up there and feel the BIG NUT screwed onto the Tank. Now you can shop around for much cheaper ones. Just wanted to show you what I think is the PETCOCK you have on yours. AH YES that is what you want and a damn good price at that. And yes use your adjustable wrench. DAMN!! Girl you just are not having any luck these days. But if you suck on the VAC hose and no gas comes out that is definitely a bad petcock. No the motor does not have to be running, That is ONE way you can test the PETCOCK. The other way is to TAKE THE fuel hose off like you did LEAVE THE VACUMM CONNECTED and CRANK THE ENGINE and FUEL SHOULD flow when cranking the engine and let the ENGINE DO THE SUCKING. So you can try that as well. Alleyoop Here is probably the PETCOCK you need. But see if you can get your hand up there and feel the BIG NUT screwed onto the Tank. Yes, it is a PETCOCK and not a FUEL PUMP. A Scooter will have a Fuel Pump IF the Gas Tank is BELOW the CARB, so a FUEL PUMP is needed so it can PUMP the FUEL UP to the Carb.
A PETCOCK is just a VALVE to allows fuel to FLOW DOWNHILL what is none as GRAVITY FEED SYSTEM.
And yes that is the sameo sameo. Alleyoop

Ok make sense. It said pump in the add so wasn't sure. Ya that's a good idea. If I start it and have the gas line going into a cup, will it shoot out fast? I planned on having it going into a clear 8oz plastic cup with a lid and hole in it but I don't want it to come out like as fast as it does at the gas pump. When u say crank the engine, do you mean just hit the ignition button, let it idle or give it a little gas? I'm hoping this may be my last question of the night. Again, thanks so much for your help

Yes, just get something to catch the fuel, it should flow out pretty good not a hell of a lot. But it SHOULD NOT DRIBBLE OUT or JUST DO A COUPLE Squirts.
And yes just hit the Start button and watch it if it starts it starts no big thing the important thing is to see how the Fuel Flows out or if it does not or dribbles out or just in little squirts. Alleyoop

Okay. I turned it on, it started right away and idled fine w/ out any throttle. The gas flowed out well it seemed. It filled half of my 8oz cup during the 1 min. of idling and I shut it off. I wonder if maybe there is a clog in the line? Is the fuel filter little bubble thingee supposed to be full of gas? Or maybe the petcock just happens to be working at the moment. I think I'm going to order the new petcock, and have it on hand and when it stops working again on me, try to get it started just long enough after that to see if the fuel is not flowing anymore like it is now.

Yes, that is not a bad plan, but you see if the Fuel Flows your Scoot does run. So It maybe that something is maybe in the Gas tank and at times blocks the Outlet or the petcock is acting up and sometimes it opens and lets the fuel flow and other times not.
Yes the FUel Filter is supposed to be full of gas.
But next time it stops you can test it out. But now that it is flowing SUCK ON IT AND SEE IF it also flows with you putting suction to it. Alleyoop

Well just to check if mouth to mouth is enough everyone tests it that way. Or next time you go to the grocery store get a Baster then you don't have to do the mouth to mouth thing(HAHA). Alleyoop
