A couple weeks ago I bought a 2006 JM Star 150 scooter with only 775 chino-miles on it. Since then I have changed all the fluids except the brake fluid. This morning I rebuilt my front forks according to the thread linked below. scooterdoc.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=techtips&action=display&thread=2845This seems to be a pretty significant improvement, I might use heavier oil next time. I think adding about 1" of preload to the springs did more good then the better oil. Only problem is, stiffening up the front now makes the rear shock unbearable. I am either getting every bump shot up my back or am bouncing uncontrollably. I have seen upgrade shocks for around $250, but I only have about $400 in the scooter. Doesn't make sense to spend that much on a shock. Any more affordable upgrades out there? Thanks for the great site, I have already learned a lot here.

Thanks. Looks like they offer an adjustable one for not much more. I will do some measuring and look into those. Forgot to mention, I only have a single shock.

Thanks for the post, I have been looking for months for something like this. I used to think the front end settled because of my weight when I started riding these bikes but now that I have finally dropped to 170Lb., from 235, , I think its just another instance of build it cheap, capture market share and sell better ones as the time goes by. Even at 170 LB. there is a road here that has no chuck holes, just bad surface that jars both my bike and old truck, ( New shocks about 3000 miles ago).
