I have a Tank 150 Urban Racer 500 miles.
In trying to adjust the valves, when the TDF mark is aligned the holes on the cam gear are NOT positioned with the large hole away from the head, and the two small holes even with the edge of the head. The
Two questions:
Is this something to be concerned about?
I set the valves using the alternative method of opening one valve completely (spring pressed) and adjusting the other valve, etc. Then, as a double check, I positioned the cam gear with the large hole away, etc., and measured with the gauge. They gaps were accurate. Is this correct?
Thanks!

Yes you are correct. I use the alternative method as does my pal Sprocket. It's quicker and you can actually see what the valves are doing to be sure things are in the right position. As long as the cam lobe is rotated away from the valve rocker arm you're setting you're safe to adjust. Most of the cam rotation is closed so you don't have to be OCD about the camshaft position. These aren't Ferrari racing engines so the valve is closed more than it's open. As long as it runs OK after the valve set don't worry about the cam sprocket holes. Have you ever perused the old Tank service manual? I still use it once in a while, I cut my chops on it with my first scooters. It's too bad they went out of business, they made a good product. Rich

Yes, I do have that manual. Its great - especially for a newbie. This forum - and your direction - has been a godsend.
