Hey everybody, new member here. My name is Cody and I do not own a scooter. I drive a 1978 Yamaha XS1100 that I'm pretty much constantly working on. I drive it everyday, rain or shine. One of the benefits to living in Southern California. My girlfriend however, drives a Flyscooter. Which means, since I'm mechanically inclined... I work on her scooter because it's always breaking. I used to hate these little GY6 engines but I'm starting to enjoy working on it. I'm hoping to expand my knowledge of these little bikes from this board. It's been an interesting learning curve going from a late 70's superbike to a little 150cc chinese scooter. Anyways, glad to be here!

Welcome to Scooter Doc, Cody. The 150cc GY6 is certainly the most popular of the Chinese scoots. They are easy to work on and parts are inexpensive and easy to get. Sometimes even the experienced types need a little help with an odd scoot problem. That's why we are here. Sounds like a nice maxi would be a fair upgrade for you. My garage queen is a 1978 GS1000C. Had it since new.

The only requirement here is you gotta like scooters and I'd say you checked that box off. We have a pretty good selection of Flyscooter manuals in the Library but all the generic manuals apply to them anyway. Let us know if you need anything around the forum and glad to have you on board. Rich

Sounds like a nice maxi would be a fair upgrade for you. A Maxi? Psshhh my XS1100 is my daily driver/racer. It's big and heavy but nimble when it wants to be. Besides, it's got Dynatek coils and wires which doubled the spark output and I recently fitted a bank of Kawasaki ZRX1200 carbs to it. The difference is night and day. It's always fun to suprise the kids on the CBRs and GSXRs with the taste of a perfectly tuned burn through a set of kerker 4-1s.
