I have a 50cc schwinn 2012 and have only 945 kl on motor just started stalling when giving gas I switched cdi and not it .. set valves at .002 both and nothing switched carbs and nothing ..checked getting gas when cranking yes on gas .. checked spark and have good spark .. adj carb idle screw at 1 1/2 turns out and not it ..set carb idle at 2 1/2 turns out and not it.. let idle and sprayed carb cleaner while running no change .. now iam lost please help anyone ;( ERIC 586-292-2979 MICH

The idle screw is just to raise and lower the idle, you need to adjust the Fuel Ratio Mixture or Air Ratio Mixture Depending on what type of carb is on there.
For the type of carb that is on there, DOES the throttle go into the top of the Carb, OR is the throttle cable attached to the side of the Carb.

Also how did you check for SPARK.

i have a spark tester two kinds thru glass and gap jumper ..my carb has a side throttle cable and a cap is over the high speed adjuster should I remove it then adj ..also the scoot was running fine then this happen is that normal.. I also set my valve gap 5 times to make sure it was correct .003 on both no ticking at all any looser it ticks so IAM 100 percent they are correct help please ERIC OH yea yes I did adj the idle mixture tried 1 1/2 nothing and then 2 1/2 still nothing ..I do know about idle speed also rise speed stalls out

Ok you have a CVK carb and the FUEL RATIO SCREW is the one by the INTAKE MANIFOLD SIDE on the Carb. But your saying the carb you have has the FUEL RATIO SCREW plugged up.
Here is a picture of what your carb is very similiar to, yours may have a pump on the other side but the adjustments are the same.

The IDLE SPEED screw is the one on the THROTTLE CONTROL WHEEL and it has a SPRING ON it.

It is most likely running to LEAN if the FUEL RATIO SCREW is plugged up. Many just go and buy a Aftermarket CARB with the Fuel Ratio available. Others try and drill out the plug and HOPE THE SCREW is available behind the plug. That is the SCREW you need to ADJUST, they set them really LEAN then plug them up to pass EMSSION tests by the EPA.

ok would that cause the scoot to run fine then just act up .. i will drill it out tomorrow if thats not it any other things to check.. thanks.. what should i set the idle mixture at 1 1/2 or 2 1/2 then after drilling that out what do i set the high speed to

If you drill it out AND THE SCREW IS BEHIND the plug then:
1. Turn it CLOCKWISE until it STOPS DO NOT FORCE it just until it stops and count the number of turns it took too stop.
2. Then Turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE 2 1/2 turns that should be enough for the scoot to start and run pretty good. You can fine tune it after it gets nice and warm AT LEAST 5 minutes.

Here is how to adjust your carb:
First Start up the Scoot and let it warm up At Least 5 minutes so the ENRICHER cuts off the Extra Fuel.



YOU WANT TO GET THE HIGHEST IDLE OUT OF THE FUEL RATIO MIXTURE:


So from where it is currently set FIRST TRY richening it up more:

1. Turn it 1/4 turn Counter Clockwise and wait about 10 seconds to allow the motor to catch up with the new setting. LISTEN or look at your tach:
a. If the IDLE GOES UP REPEAT #1, UNTIL the IDLE does not change or drops a little THEN TURN THE SCREW CLOCKWISE 1/8 and that should be the highest IDLE from the Fuel Ratio Mixture and go to #3.

**** IF ON THE FIRST 1/4 TURN COUNTER CLOCKWISE THE IDLE GOES DOWN OR DOES NOTHING, TURN IT CLOCKWISE 1/4 TURN TO GET IT BACK TO WHERE IT WAS AND GO TO #2****

2. Turn it 1/4 turn Clockwise and wait about 10 seconds to allow the motor to catch up with the new setting. LISTEN or look at your tach:
a. If the IDLE GOES UP REPEAT #2, UNTIL the IDLE does not change or drops a little THEN TURN THE SCREW COUNTER CLOCKWISE 1/8 and that should be the highest IDLE from the Fuel Ratio Mixture and go to #3.

3. If the idle is TO HIGH NOW LOWER the IDLE USING the IDLE SPEED SCREW so that your REAR WHEEL JUST WANTS TO TURN... Go to #4.

4. Now give the Throttle a quick twist and let go, the Motor should Rev up nice with no sputtering or hesitation and come back down to where you set the idle.

*** IF TURNING THE FUEL RATIO SCREW Clockwise or Counter Clockwise DOES NOTHING Then the Pilot Jet AND OR ITS PASSAGE ARE Clogged and you will have to clean the Jet and CLEAR OUT THE PASSAGE. And go through the Procedure again***

just watched video i thought that bigger cap was it mine.. its open and i been trying to set that one today too tried 1 1/2 then 2 1/2 and all between .. i thought that was my idle mixture screw did get that to work either any other ideas

WHAT your not making any sense, Look at the picture of the carb I put up. See the Fuel Mixture screw where it is at Is yours there?

yea that is the one on mine.. no cap.. the idle speed screw has the spring do know that.. tried 1 1/2 and 2 1/2 and all between on mixture screw still stalls when giving gas

when i pump the throttle when engine is off.. then restart.. the motor reves up then stalls again .. did the same thing when i tried another good carb too

So you cannot get the Motor to idle,
Yours must have a PUMP on the other side that is why it starts after you pump it then dies. Which means it is not sucking in gas.
1. Do you have the AIR FILTER on?
2. Are you sure you hooked up the hoses correct?
Can you take a picture of the Carb area and the hoses.

it idles the dies when i twist throttle ..then i pump the throttle it starts then dies i took off gas line and when i crank engine gas comes out the hose ..hoses are on correct yes air filter is on too

Here is a picture of my carb area, Now yours probably will not have the Hose going over the carb. But a VACUUM hose from the INTAKE to the "T" or "Y" Then from the "T" OR "Y" one Vacuum hose goes to the PETCOCK and the other probably goes to a canister(IF YOU HAVE EMISSIONS on that scoot).

yep my hoses are correct .. its was running fine and just started doing this tried 2 carbs same thing

Ok, So let it idle don't touch the throttle LET IT WARM UP at least 5 minutes.

1. Turn the FUEL RATIO 1/4 at a time FIRST try COUNTER CLOCKWISE and wait for about 10 seconds to ALLOW the motor to catch up with the new setting. IFf the IDLE GOES up REPATE #1. If when you turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE the IDLE DOES NOTHING then do the same thing CLOCKWISE

IF THE IDLE DOES NOTHING DOES NOT GO UP OR IT DIES AFTER around 5 minutes WITHOUT touching the THROTTLE then you PILOT JET and PASSAGES are CLOGGED.
