Why doesn't everyone just use the heavier oil in the first place then, cause that sounds great!

Some do, it is just that everyone just knows about 75W-80 80w-90 etc.. Actually the 140 sticks to the metal parts better and helps keep a film between gears as they mesh that is why it quiets them down. It also helps the wear. I use Valvoline 85Wx-140 in my trikes tranny. Alleyoop

If the leak has stopped i shall leave my tranny oil alone, and change it to that heavier oil next time, but if it is still leaking then i shall try to change it and see if that fixes it
