Is there a way to do this without an impact wrench? Also besides changing the roller weights, any other simples speed increasing upgrades to be done?

Here is how to install the Tach:
Well I would need to see what is behind the CVT cover if a bigger VARIATOR(performance one will fit) That will allow the belt to climb higher to make a bigger wheel to turn the CLutch pulley faster for more top end.
You need something to hold the Variator Fan from turning as you try and loosen the Variator nut. Some use CAR OIL FILTER STRAPS you can buy those at an autoparts store. You will have to get sockets sets and if your going to be messing with it an IMPACT wrench makes it very easy to take the nuts off the Variator and or Clutch and put them back on tight enough so they do not come loose.
The other thing that can be done is change the Tranny Gears for more top end speed. But othere than what your going to do the only other thing is BUILD up the motor with a BIG BORE KIT bigger piston etc for more displacement. Right now your displacement is like 49.6 and you can get BBKs to build the motor up 72cc and higher. But that takes some mechanical skills and the right tools.
So first start small and as you learn you can tinker with it. As long as it is your toy and not your commuter to whatever. Alleyoop

If i got an impact wrench would that also hold the variator fan in place and keep it from moving while i loosen the nut and be the only tool i need or would i still need something else to keep the variator fan from moving? I already have socket sets. Sometime within a week or two i will get a picture of under the cvt cover so you can see if there is enough room for the performance variator you mentioned. And my dad used to be a car mechanic so if it is anything similar maybe it could be a good project during spring to get ready for my summer vacation.
