The valves setting are usually .004 for the intake and .004-.006 for the exhaust so I would go .004 for the intake and .005 for the exhaust. Alleyoop

Yes, just about all your 150+ scoots the valve adjustment are very close. After you set them if they Clatter then you just go one down. On your 50s .003 is a good setting, some set them at .002 but that is a little to tight and will be adjusting them very soon afterwards. Don't forget we are talking about Chinese Clones of the really good motors that are built with very close tolerances and the quality metal. The heads and valves are made of good quality metal that will not change their shape with the extreme heat and last a lot longer between needing adjustment. On the other side of the coin the Metal from china is not of very good quality and the head and valves change shape very quickly and is why we have to keep adjusting the valves until maybe 2000 miles or so is when finally the metals are compressed enough that they will last a little longer between needing the next adjustment. On my BBK I have twain parts and I adjusted the valves at 1000 miles and I haven't needed to adjust them since and I have put on 3500 since the last adjustment. I checked them about 1 month ago and did not need to adjust them. Trike is running great starts on the first push of the start button and runs like a naked ape. ;D Alleyoop

I found that my Magnum runs best at .004 on the intake and .005 on the exhaust. .003 is to tight and .oo6 is to much on the exhaust. Spent some time about a year or so ago and tried several settings and this works great. Alley even helped as I set the sound up and he could hear the difference.

I am wanting to check my valves since I have close to 2200 miles on my sunny reverse trike. How long does checking/adjusting the valves take? Is it as easy as changing the oil? I'm considering letting a certified mechanic shop doing it.

It takes me about 20 - 30 minutes to set the valves on my 300 Magnum as I can go thru the top hatch for the intake and the exhaust is easy from the bottom and sides, niothing pulled... Sure would not pay someone to do that it is sooo easy and several many show and tell videos. I do the ones on my Honda Reflex in about 3 - 5 minutes.....

Looks like I will have to remove body panels to get to my flywheel. And my valve cover looks like it may be hard to get to as well.

Hey Justin, if you search repair forums you will find that there are other methods to adjust valves that don't require finding top dead center with timing marks.

Yep, you do not have to get it to TDC if you do not want to. Just turn the motor over and watch when one of the Valves has compression the SPRING and IS PUSHED DOWN then you can adjust the OTHER VALVE, then rotate again and when the one you just adjusted has compressed the VALVE SPRING then adjust the other one and your done.
If you want to Adjust them both without rotateing the motor over then you have to get it at TDC so you can adjust both of them. Alleyoop

Hey new2scootn, I paid a guy to adjust them but he is going to show me how to do it. He is also going to do some work with the transmission to see if I can get more speed. The trike is running about the same. I just got done with a long 75 mile round trip ride. It was a nice ride. I was riding with the big boys over to a local bike night. Hit a little rain but overall the ride was nice. I am still getting a wobble when slowing down sometimes. I will let it ride until it gets worse and then maybe have to do a front alignment again.

Listen to what daddue is sayin' about that engine crossmember being the source of his vibration--that may be your issue too. I would check it out before spending any more on alignments.
