My stator gasket is still leaking but I am checking the oil and filling it up and driving it still. I will do the hardwork some other time.
However my Exhaust is backfiring now since I started having this leak stator cover. I did change the exhaust gasket also when this started.
Any Ideas?
It backfires when I let off the throttle.

I think your exhaust is leaking very common re-check how you put the gasket on and or if the nuts are loose, It is running lean sucking in air from someplace. Alleyoop

Alleyoop Could be sucking air from the leaking gasket stator? I will check the exhaust again. My stator is leaking oil and hit my back tire a bit. I am going to stop driving it as of today and park it and work on it far in the future when I have time.

NO, leaking oil by the stator plate will not cause the problem. What is happening due to sucking in to much air into the CHAMBER, on the down stroke. I suspect the Leak is by the Flange where you it connects to the motor. If the gasket was not put in right or was a little off and you did not bring up the PIPE evenly and or tighten one side down then the other that pushes the gasket to one side and leaks on the other side.
