Are you sure it is plastic and not gasket material?

If it is plastic Check the Tension on the CHAIN maybe the Tensioner loosened up and now the chain is slapping on the guide.

Did you cut out the piece of gasket that runs across the sump?

If not it may be slowly falling apart and sticking in the filter. I know it looks too thick but after it gets pummled in the engine it forms little pieces that take on oil and swell. I experienced this very thing with my Fashion. It started out just a few flecks and then gobs of it. Be careful, if it is that gasket it can let go all at once and plug the filter completely up.
