I removed my air tube. I also had to remove the inside of the left rear compartment and the air box to get the starter off. The teeth look good on the starter motor. I had a guy that works on starters check it out and he said it is in good working condition. So I guess my next step is checking the starter clutch. :/

Yup... bummer. Take pics of process though if you can, curious to see what caused failure.

Update: Got a new starter clutch from Sunny. Sunny said they would get a new starter clutch in the mail on December 21st. I received it the 26th! I was very impressed with the speedy delivery, especially since it was around Christmas. I took the trike to a mechanic shop and they fixed it by installing the new starter clutch. The trike cranks right up now. But I noticed after picking the trike up I now have a oil leak. So I need to get a new gasket installed.
Take it back I am sure it is leaking from the Side plate they took off to replace the Starter CLutch or the Oil-Seal on the crank. Alleyoop

It's just never easy with these RTs is it!?Glad to hear you got her fixed up though otherwise. Sunny give you the part under warranty? I'm still waiting for daddue to get his new engine support(with new part number) so I can try to get one of them under warranty. I'll let you know how I make out.

Sunny did send the starter clutch under warrenty. And they were not slow about it at all. I was very very impressed. The mechanic said he replaced a seal but he thinks the gasket (im assuming the one that goes on the right side of the motor) is leaking. Its not leaking too bad but it is still leaking and it wasnt before the tear down. I noticed a air line off when I took off the starter, before taking the trike to the shop. I reattached the air line properly. The trike runs smoother and better now. The motor even sounds quieter. I may even get more speed out of her. Havent had a chance to take her for a long ride yet.

Great, good news but I know that sound from the starter clutch(HEHE). Mine used to kickback all the time with the Advanced CDI. Now I have an Advanceing CDI which is RETARDED at low rpms and IDLE and advances the timing as the rpms climb. No more kickbacks from the starter clutch but still get a little more power as the rpms go up WIN WIN. Alleyoop

Just saw the PM new2scootn. The trike is running good. I just lose oil when the engine is running though. Just got a new gasket delivered on Friday. I havent been riding as much because of the oil leak. I wish these trikes had more speed to them. If there was more speed they would be absolutely perfect. I would venture out of town with the real bikes if it could do a cruising speed of at least 65 and max speed of 85.
