OK have few questions for the experts on the forum...I have 2010 jonway rock thunder 1) brand new I GPS tested the scooter and the speedo was off by 10 mph so when it said 50 GPS said 40 at 70 GPS 60 was pretty consistent.... I took it to a local scooter shop with some gears from Taiwan 17/37 I believe and they wouldn't fit was told my gears are different then any he had seen before....I had also brought some 10g sliders for him to put in with the gears he calls and tells me that my variator isn't closing together fully and that is causing loss of power so he installed a new 115mm variator and the 10g sliders performance was a lot better off the line but with GPS I notice quite a bit of top end loss and my speedo is way off now about 17mph instead on 10mph.....anyone know how that could be? I measured my stock variator and its 123mm diameter and the rollers in it 20x15....where the new one 115mm with 18x14 rollers

if the diameter of the stock variator is larger , putting in a smaller diameter variator is counter productive . The larger diameter of the variator will spin the clutch faster . Do you have the variator out of the scooter at the moment ? If you do post side by side pics from both sides and the edges , with and without the back plate in place . As far as rollers I have seen 20x15 rollers listed from the hip looks like a 250cc roller size .

If the stock Variator is 123 and you got a 115mm the 115mm is for your everyday chinese 150cc scoots. Yours comes with a Variator you normally find on a 250 scoot also look at your clutch you much bigger clutch pulleys that you find on a 150 chinese scoot. Your CVT is actually a 250 cvt setup. No wonder you lost so much speed, so put the 123 mm back on with the 20x15 rollers.
As far as the SPEEDOs on these scoots they are lucky if they are only 10% OFF from the actual speed, some are 20% and more off on the HIGH SIDE. Guess they want you to think WOW!! this thing is really cranking(HAHA).
The problem is they use the same HUB SPEEDO GEAR for just about every scoot they make. The SPEEDO GEAR they put in there is pretty accurate IF THE FRONT WHEEL IS A 13" wheel for some reason. Alleyoop
