My old motor had a chrome tube coming off an exhaust port, but my new motor does not. It run up the frame to what looks like a vacuum valve where one tube goes to open air and another runs back down to a a nub on the side of the intake manifold. Is this some kind of recirculating device.

Just to be clear its not the charcoal canister

The only thing I can think of doing is plugging the tube that remains.

If someone can tell me what it is I would be grateful.

Hey buggin, this is different. I plugged the canister, which comes from the gas tank. This is coming from the exhaust.

Something like this, a Valve on the Exhuast Pipe?
It has a Vacuum Line going to the INTAKE MANIFOLD and the other hose goes to a canister.

I was hoping you would chime in Alley. after you posted this, I feel really dumb right now. I ran out to the garage to look again and realized it actually come from the side of the valve cover. When the motor is in, it's on the bottom, where the exhaust is and.... Dumb! Sorry for the the confusion.

So, it is a chrome pipe bolted onto to the side. It's not on the valve cover, but right beside it.

I believe it's an egr. I have read some good threads about what to do. Since, I don't have one on this motor, I believe I just need to plug the nipple on the intake manifold.

And you want either buy one of these or you can make your own to cap it off and disconnect and take all the stuff off.

If its a little different take a picture of it So I can have the Other type in case someone else has it as well.
Yours may be connected to the DIRECTLY to the head in front and that is even an easier one because the PIPE does not go back like this one. So you take it off in front there and plug it there. I do not have a picture of one of those.

Well I did have a picture of the Plug on one that attaches to the head.



Your valve cover looks like this:

The chrome pipe connects to a hose that runs up the frame to the bottom of that valve. You can see the cut off hose. Then one small hose runs to the intake manifold and the other runs under the seat into a canister and then to open air.

Wow!! never seen one like that with the chrome pipe going back to the Valve. But SAMEO SAMEO you plug it up by the Valve cover like the Picture I put up and take the rest of the crap off and plug up the VACUUM hose at ITS ORGIN by the INTAKE MANIFOLD and your done.
