I just installed a new motor, but I hear something like a metal noise. I researched a bit and came up with two possibilities; the roller weights or the starter clutch. There seems to be nothing wrong with engine, I see no metal in the oil that's out of the ordinary for break in. Do you know of anything else I might have missed? I am going to check to see if its the roller weight first.

Sounds like it could be either one. So take the variator off and belt and start it up BUT DO NOT REV IT without the Variator off you will know right away. It could also be in the Valve train so before taking the side off again to check the Starter Clutch I would first check the valve train. Alleyoop

Well, it wasn't the rollers. I buttoned it up again thinking it had to be either what you suggested or the starter clutch, but as I listened around the scoot it really sounds like its coming from the clutch. Have you ever heard of a clutch making that kind of noise at idle?
FYI--the clutch is not engaged at all.
I think I will try a used clutch I have to see if that is what it is.
Where do I start to check the valve train?

If it is the CLUTCH I would think maybe a spring broke or where the spring hooks up to broke and is rattling around. But you can take a SCREW DRIVER and touch around the CLUTCH and put your ear close to the handle of the screwdriver and you will find where the noise is coming from. Also you can do that to the VALVE COVER.
The Valve train could be a loose Chain the TENSIONER BACKED off and the chain is slapping or one of the Rocker Lock nuts came loose and the Rocker is slapping hard when it comes off the High lobe off the cam. If the Rocker assembley has a Cam stopper to stop it from starting in Reverse that could have broke etc.. Alleyoop
