On the subject of valve adjustment, its a single cyl engine, why cant you , just adjust all 4 valves with the engine set to Top Dead Center on its compression stroke??? all valves MUST be closed at this time.

No reason at all It is up to you, bring it up to TDC and adjust all 4 Valves IF it has 4 Valves. Most only have 1 Intake and 1 Exhaust, the 4 valve head as 2 of each to SUCK IN MORE MOJO ;D Alleyoop

I use a simple method where you don't have to watch for flywheel markings or find TDC. Rotate the engine until one cam lobe has it's valve completely open. Then adjust the other valve, it's cam lobe will be fully off of it. Repeat with the other valve.

I adjust the valves Rich's way on my Cub Clone. On the scooters I use the cam sprocket position way.
