I've got a 2011 GY6 Honda Clone 150CC. I have blindly bought and installed the following parts just to see if it fixes this dang thing. I bought a new petcock, CDI, ignition coil, spark plug and GY8 carburetor.
PROBLEM: it turns over but doesn't start.
It gets a Small spark when I tested the spark plug against the frame to see if it was getting spark.
After unplugging the hose from the tank to the carb I turned it over and gas came out so it IS getting gas to the carb. I suspect this means that the fuel filter and petcock are working fine. Needless to say there is obviously gas in the filter if there is gas coming out of the hose that goes into the carb.
Last night I took the carb out, took it apart and found that if it was big enough I could eat a meal off of it. All the jets were super clean and it was filled with gas. I shook the carb and let the gas all fall out.
When I put the carb back in the engine started for about 2 seconds and died. It wouldn't start after that (not starting as usual)
An hour later I tried to start it again and it started for a half second.
When I turn it over now it just floods and I can smell gas.
I've hired multiple people off craigslist to come and fix this thing with no luck. I really believe it's a small problem and hopefully not a piston because it IS getting compression.
It's got spark, compression and fuel to the carb. What the hell am I missing?

Hi ptrista88,
When you check for spark always check for spark on the motor NOT THE FRAME normally the Battery NEGATIVE cable is grounded to the frame and there should also be a GROUND wire from the motor to the FRAME. Usually the GROUND wire from the motor is hooked up to one of the BOLTS to the VALVE cover. So checking for spark on the frame is NOT good enough you have to hold the PLUG on the VALVE cover or the MOTOR itself to check for SPARK. It MAY spark on the frame BUT not the MOTOR due to a bad ground from motor to frame.
But any way First make sure it SPARKS on the MOTOR if not check the ground wire from the motor to the frame is making good contact so clean the ground on the frame etc..
If good spark then try this Turn the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE screw on the carb CLOCKWISE until it stops and COUNT THE NUMBER OF TURNS it took to stop then turn it out 2 1/2 turns and give that a shot. Let us know the result if it starts and idles you can then fine tune the carb. Alleyoop

I tightened the fuel ratio mixture (some screw on the side) and reversed it 2 and a half times with no change. It's got spark to the motor.

When you crank it does it smell from gas or not, Also what size carb did you buy 24mm 30mm or what size? Can you take some pics of the CARB AREA and HOSES. Did something happen before this no start when was the last time it ran?
If it getting gas to the motor and it has compression and spark it should fire up.
You can take the VACUUM hose off going to the INTAKE MANIFOLD and get a plastic cup NOT FOAM and put a teaspoon of gas squeeze the cup making a point and holding the vacuum line going to the INTAKE MANIFOLD pour the gas directly into the VACUUM hose put the hose back on and try to start it. IT SHOULD fire and maybe start and die but if it does that points to no gas is being sucked into the INTAKE. Alleyoop

I can't get the gas out of the tank to do this and I have to wait until my battery is charged up again until I can run to the store. Typical with this scooter.

After that ordeal we just went through with mine, with the same symptoms as yours, I found that my wiring from my stator had a bad connection, plus I didn't have the four pin connection to the CDI fully seated. As far as what you can do for testing now, it wouldn't be a bad idea to check those two areas and all of the other wiring you can see while you're at it. Correct me if I'm wrong, anybody.

Ptrist, That is to much gas, take the spark plug out and crank it over to blow out the gas otherwise the gas will run into the crankcase and you will need put new oil in. It just takes a little bit of gas a TEASPOON is really all it needs to see if it fires.
Or you can not do that and crank it and IF IT DOES NOT FIRE ONCE then take the PLUG out and see if the PLUG IS WET OR DRY. If it is DRY and it DID NOT FIRE ONCE then that says NO GAS IS BEING SUCKED IN. IF IT IS WET that means the SPARK PLUG IS NOT SPARKING. Alleyoop
