My daughter....my DAUGHTER just called me and said I should look at this thread. I said "what are you DOING looking at this FORUM!?" She said "didn't you start the forum?" I said "NO!, well kinda, so what?" She said "it's disgusting!". "Do you have a point sweetie?" "Click." She actually said "click." She studied African languages for three...uh months. I know, I paid for it. She got to the tribes that used clicking noises and bailed. I'm not sure what "click" means but it involves raising one finger while clicking! Hey, foreign languages! Who knows?!

It is nice in San Diego right now. Not too warm to wear protective clothing, but warm enough to ride.
I took my 150cc out for a 100 mile back road ride this week.
I am starting to actually see other China Scoots around the area. I see a lot of Japanese bikes and scooters around, but it appears China Scoots are catching on again in San Diego.
Having a local mechanic again probably helps. For a couple of years, those that couldn't work on their own scoot ended up parking them because no shop would touch them. A good guy opened up a shop in Pacific Beach, and is doing good business.

Well yeah, but a scooter shop charges about what a bike shop does. And no arguments there, they do mechanic's work. The problem I would see is the Chinese scoot has a lot less resale value than a Japanese or Taiwanese bike so each dollar sunk into maintenance is a loss on the back end. So, if you can save a lot a money by doing your own work by using this forum, you come out ahead when you sell your bike. Good grief!! Did I just make sense??!! The end is nigh.

To me resale value is a non issue. What I get out of a vehicle is what counts. People laugh when I tell my exchange rate but it's 1,000 miles for every $100.00. I paid $1200 for the 150cc scooter so at 12,000 miles I'm even. Wear items don't count but repairs do. I spent almost $200 in parts so it darn well better get to 14,000 now. If people thought like that then repairs wouldn't be such a stab. If they pay $1200 for a scooter and have to cough up $300 for a repair to keep it running then there's more chance to recoup. I also use it to determine resale. At almost 8,000 miles I would break even selling the scooter for $600. When I reach 14,000 anything I get for it is total profit.
