If you have 12V on the BOTTOM WIRE ON THE TWO PLUG on the CDI then you have a DC CDI.
What color are your stator wires and how many wires.

The garage guy must smoke something, 99% do not melt they just go south internally. But anywhos, check the fuse if you have no power what so ever when you turn on the key. The fuse is on the red wire coming off the positive terminal of the battery. Now if it is a TUBE type fuse they may look good but are bad where you cannot see the break on either end of it. If you have a Light tester or volt meter you can test if VOLTAGE is getting from one end of the fuse to the other. AND TEST EACH END SEPARATELY many touch both sides at once and that is the wrong way to test if juice is getting from one side through the fuse to the other side. Alleyoop power is getting through the fuse as engine is trying to start, i think it could be what you was saying earlier with regards to the stator and pick up. going to test that and see if it defo that and if so il order a new one, seen some quite ok pricewise on ebay. |

Just make sure the wiring on the stator that you get matchs your current harness.
