this motor is rated 90 volts, can i possibly plug this to 110v outlet without being fried? i wanna know before i buy it. thanks

and is 100 in-lbs torque powerful?

Yes you can an outlet will put out 108-132 volts. What do you want to use it for. 100lbs of torque is really not a heck of a lot take into consideration an Electric 120v PLUG in Impact wrench puts out 230-250+lbs of torque.

yes its a DC gear motor.
im gonna use it to rotate my engine cut away project. i have taken off the piston so there will be not too much resistance when it slides thru the engine block. hope this thing work.

I would guess you would need a dc motor controller to be able to use it. I have one similar that is used on a treadmill. I am going to use it to replace the motor on my milling machine and possible on my chinese lathe. It would more than likely not be a super motor for your project. I imagine a controller to cost as much as the motor though.

As far as power it is not that much, the amps say just over a half amp X 90 volts = 52.2 watts so even geared down it is not going to be real powerful. I think a horsepower is around 700 + watts as an example and that motor yields 0.0697 hp

you would need an motor controler to run it and they are not cheap for the ones used at work they run $600 and more

Guys , he is just being a wise guy . I thi.k he is just looking to see what we will say . That motor it for working some type of machine that is micro processor controled . I would guess something in packaging equipment or some sort of mechonized production .

If it is DC it will smoke.

If it is AC it will stall then start to smoke after a few minutes.

The mass you are trying to rotate with that small a motor is too great. You will need a fairly significant AC motor and a gear reduction transmission to rotate the flywheel. AC motors are usually wound to run at 1750 rpms.

thanks jeffrey, but the motor that i used to run this beast was a 12rpm 110v 32 in-lbs torque wayyy less than the 100 in-lbs motor that i am trying to buy now., the only problem with that motor was that the helical gear got stripped with repeated on and off, it was made of hard plastic thingy, had it been a hard metal it wouldn't have stripped and should still be running up to now, the motor is still in perfect shape,very quiet, i was trying to buy the original helical gear inside but they want $90 for it,, i said Hell no!! shyet!

i finally found a motor for my thingie, but the problem is , it's a 12v motor, runs only on battery.
1/6 Hp i bought it 2bucks from a rummage sale shyet!

my question :is there some kind of an adaptor/transformer etc i can buy that can be plugged in a 110v wall outlet that gives out 12v output that can run for hours? im not so electrically inclined, need some serious help.

what is the current rating on the motor ?
use the battery and connect a battery charger . There are dc power supplys you could use but it should be rated for double what the motor is . If the motor is rated at say 5a use a 10a power supply .
