Reasons for the Fuel not shutting off: Alleyoop 1. The float itself has filled up with gas and will not let it rise. 2. The Hole where the fuel comes in is dirty and or all varnished up. 3. The Rubber tip on the plunger is damaged or has crude on it. 4. The Tab that holds and pushs the Plunger up has broken off or is bent out to far and when the float rises it does not move the plunger up enough to shut off the fuel from coming in. 5. The pin or screw that holds the Float to the carb has come loose on one end and now the float is out of position and stops if from rising. So you will see any of this once you take the bowl off. Take the Golf Tee out and give the carb bowl a little whack see if it stops. Alleyoop

OK.. so this is where I stand.. Someone is hating me with this scooter.... So I went out there to see about removing the carb.. I hit the top a few times.. Had trouble starting it.. Finally started up.. Let it run for a while.. NO GAS coming out.. That's the good news.. I adjust (hopefully correct) the valves. And now it starts right up no gas still...
But......... and wait for it.. there is a but.. Now when I shut the scooter off.. the scooter shuts down but the rest don't .. The lights stay on and the dash gauges stay on... Key is out and now it all stays on.. that has NEVER happened before till just now. Im glad I have a shut off key for the battery or I would be screwed..
So ... here's another issue.. And its raining so can't test ride it.. but now I have to deal with this other issue... What can be causing the scooter to stay on when the key is out???

NO.. all I did was adjusted the valves.... That can't be the issue right?? Its starting right up now.. but I shut the key down.. took it out and everything is still like it running except the engine is off.. The headlights, tail lights, dash lights, speedometer, all still on.. I have to use the battery key I install to shut everything down... Its weird. Has never happened before... Till just now.

Check any wires that you may have disturbed when putting on panels you took off to adjust the valves. You may have pinched some wires and or grounding out. Alleyoop

Crazy thing is I didn't have to take the panels off.. It was easy to get to ... I adjusted them I hope without disturbing any wires.. just weird that I was able to pull the key out.. and everything stay on.. wonder if it would of started without the key as well... strange just strange.. Its been running great till here recently...

Well check around where you had your hands while adjusting the valves or getting to them. You have had to disturb some wires for this to happen. Alleyoop

I would put the key in, turn it on and jiggle it in the ignition switch, turn it to the fork lock and every way you can. Maybe something is stuck inside. Maybe even tap it without the key in. I never took an ignition switch apart but it sounds like the problem is there.
