It is sulfuric acid and hydrogen crystals from the escaping hydrogen battery gases/liquid through the batteries vents that allow the gases to escape. Clean everything off use a wire brush on the terminals if it is on there. Don't get it on your skin it stings and burns. Alleyoop

so it's normal tho....thanks! i clean it thoroughly and inserted a rubber matting in between the metal holder and the battery so as to prevent shortage since rubber is non conductor. i used pressurized air to clean it,your'e right ,some tiny particles went into my arms, then suddenly i felt some burning sting whatever,i thought some ants are biting my arms syet!.
thanks!!

Water and baking soda mixed is even faster and easier. Once the crud is all gone just either rag dry it or blow the water off with a compressor.

Looks like your Morpheus has a case of the creeping crud there Luke... Both suggestions will work But the backing soda &water will neutralize the accede. In a pinch you can even use Choke-a-cola Just make sure you reance it off real good... Dave

Hey, Luke, if you want to avoid this scooter cancer in the future, use an AGM or sealed battery as a replacement on the scoot. Since they are sealed, there is no way for any acid to get outside and cause corrosion. My battery terminals stay nice and clean as well as the battery compartment.
