Having wait for replacement variator , took a ride with cover off, after 5 miles clutch too hot
To hold, is this normal, or is bearings going out? Note had heavy rains this morning ,
Roads were clean & dry.

Normal yes, belt running and pulling makes for a lot of heat

Replaced varator with KNM stage II, 18 gram rollers, good pickup to 65. Cruise @ 58 mph @ 4400 rpm, gets good mileage .
Did 1000 mile oil change, oil was dark, not black. Inspected cvt., changed out filter on cvt. with stainless steel on all openings.
Keeps out wasp! Have some other improvements coming up, too much work, not enough play.
