My 2010 taotao 50 peace motorsports is having electrical problems. Sometimes it won't crank. I'll press the button and nothing happens. If I turn the key off and back on a couple times it works fine. The guages light up and fuel level comes on just fine.
Also now my headlight doesn't work. At first the low beam side went out and I could just switch it to high beam and it would work. Now I have no headlight at all. The blue light in the guage cluster still lights up to indicate when high beam is activated if that makes any difference.
This really sucks as I dont have a kick start lever on my scooter(PO removed it for some reason)

about the headlight: have you changed the bulb? if it was the original bulb, it could have just been on its way out.

check the " AC voltage at the head light " check the starter switch makes good ground . check to see if the brake light is lit when trying to start . power to the coil of the solenoid comes off the brake light ckt and ground comes from the starter switch . As far as the headlight bulb they could be defective , however if the AC voltage spikes it will burn them out .
Questions ?

So just found out turning the ignition on and off doesn't help. But I have to fiddle with the starter button. I'm assuming its loose wiring after riding some bumpy roads yesterday. Will tear it down tomorrow and check.
As for the light is there anything brighter I can put in there that will fit without mods? The stock light is just too dim for these country roads..

Trace from the - battery to the frame , there should be a few wires under that point . Take that apart clean the underside for good electrical connection . Follow the other wires from the past point and see where they connect and clean the connections . I'm a big fan of adding good wire to aid the stock harness . Some will add a wire from - battery to the valve cover inserted under a bolt , then continue on to the area under the handle bars and splice to the green on the ignition switch . I also pull a heavy wire via a fuse from the battery + to the ignition switch red wire .

It depends on your Bulb Connection. If its a two point connection on the bulb, I have seen as high as 55watts, but thats it. I just bought a pair of 20 dollar fog lights from Advance Auto Parts, so I could direct them where I want. They're alot bigger and brighter and they make my scoot look like a Ruckus hahaha
