This scooter was not running when a freind droped it of to see if I could repair it. I rebuilt the top end due to low compression. I installed new carb, stator (magneto), CDI, coil and intake. The plus now gets fire and when i pull the plug it is wet with gas so im not understanding why its not firing. Oh yeah i rechecked the timing and its good. I also set the valves at .003.
Any help would be appreciated.

You may have forgotten to connect the GROUND WIRE from the FRAME TO THE MOTOR. Usually the Ground wire is attached to one of the BOLTS on the valve cover and then to the frame. If the motor is not grounded the Spark Plug will NOT FIRE. Also make sure the Negative Post Cable from the Battery is Grounded to the FRAME as well.
Also check that the Killswitch is on the run position if the motor is grounded to the frame and the Spark Plug will still not fire. Alleyoop

I'm going to assume that should read "The plug now gets fire.....". I don't see a new spark plug listed in the "New" items. Is there a new spark plug or not? I had a scooter that showed me spark outside the engine but wouldn't fire until I put in a new plug. Also if the plug was bad and is now wet with fuel, cleaning it won't help. CDI fires massive volts through a plug and it will crack the insulator down where you can't see it. Change the plug, maybe even go one heat range hotter, and try again.

Thanks guys, the plug was a new one. I'll try another new plug and see if it starts. Oh, and yes the engine is grounded to the frame and so is the negative terminal on the battery.

Sounds stupid. But you can accidently put a 6 coil stator in an 8-coil flywheel, as the plug-ins on the 6 and 8 are the same, or at least on mine it was...That may be an area to look at.

I have a 8 pole 4 wire stator and it was replaced with a new one. The CDI, Coil and sparkplug have all been replaced.
