My scoot has 700 miles on it and has a Bando stock. I ordered a new bando to have as a spare and then i noticed the bendix cut a grove in the older one so i popped on the new Bando. Same size but the rpms have dropped a few hundred? Why is that?

New belts always lower your rpms due to they do slip a little due to the protective glaze they put on them. As you get some miles on it it will get better. The reason the bendix cut the belt is because the belt is riding to high on the Variator. The only thing you can do to eliminate the bendix ruining your belt is to get the rpms to a point where it does not reach the bendix about 1/8 from the edge of the variator. Alleyoop

That was probably when the rpms were too high until I changed out the sliders. Shouldnt happen again with this one.

Mark your variator like this and if it leaves about 1/8 of an inch mark left you will be fine. Alleyoop MY MOTOR look at the mark and that is a 115mm Variator ;D :

HAHAHAHA, all you have to do is clean it out once in a while. The dust created from the belt gets all over and that actually makes it hold more heat, not to mention it gets onto the variator and pulley plates then you have to scrub down the pulley plates to get the black strips it builds up on them. Not to threadjack here, But: how many miles can be expected for the cheap belts off eBay? I only ask because I know the previous owner put the cheapest belt on there , and I've already put another 1,200 miles on it since I bought it.

I put 2400 miles on my original Zhuping belt before it stretched out. By and large the smaller bikes only go about 3,000 on a cheap belt.

Alley is spot on about the RPM changes. Another factor is the new belt is wider so it pushes higher on the pulley. That gives you lower RPMs until the belt wears and becomes narrower. The difference in width doesn't seem like much but it lowers the RPMs and increases the top speed.
