I have the 110v AC version and it's better than air powered. Tell that to a real mechanic! John , I use the electric impact gun 110vac it works just fine . For general scooter repair it does better than the 12vdc one . John

I meant as opposed to air inpact! No doubt any kind of electric is better than nothing for a home repair. Most of the broken variators come from lack of an impact.

But then it isn't a Harbor Freight model either. It's Makita and yes they had larger ones that did much better but I can't think of any homes that have compressors that large.

You do not need a huge compressor for a impact to take loose a single nut. What you need is a gallon or so air storage with 100 or more lbs of pressure. The $49 harbor freight ones are plenty. I think that ol junk I have might make 85 or 90 unless you hold the regulator down with your finger. My big one has been broke so long I forgot what was broke on it. Many uses for air.... tires, impact, chisels, blowing dirt and swarf, setting rivits, sheetmetal shears....and on and on.

I have a truck load of 18v Ryobi tools I have collected over the years. I have two 1/4-3/8" impact drivers and one 1/2" driver that will break just about anything I can drive with 1/2" impact sockets.
