Alley, I know i have ask you this question before but seem to have a memory lapse . How do I tell how many gram's a set of rollers or single roller should weight? These will be in a MCP 250cc scooter. A buddy of mine here in the park has YYMCP 250cc scooter and he tells me that the mechanics have done every thing to this variator and it still chatters when he takes off. It will smooth out after he reaches speed, I was wondering if a set of sliders would solve this problem and if so what weight should they be ? Any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks kalee

It may not be the Variator it may be the CLutch is slipping very common on the 250s. The clutch pads get glazed from starting off slow and just putting around slow. The scoot is heavy and if you are one that starts off slow with very low rpms that causes them to glaze up and slip. Then you get a shuddering and vibrations starting off until enough rpms create enough centrifigual force to really grab the bell to turn the wheel. Usually on the 250s+ the variator takes 8 weights and they are sitting in some grease to quiet them down and they have a cover so the grease does not fly out. So I really think it is his clutch pads that are glazed, and he can take some sandpaper and sand the glaze off. Alleyoop The Variator looks like this: OR ONE LIKE THIS:

Nope just take the BELL off and you can sand the glaze off don't even have to take the belt off just take the nut off and bell and sand each pad taking off the glaze. Alleyoop

If will if it is shuddering when taking off. On one of the other forums I fixed 2 other 250s with the same problem. Alleyoop

FANTASTIC!! but if he is easy starting off they will again glaze pretty quick. GOT'S to have some MACHO in the right hand and give it some good juice starting off then you can ease off once it moves out. Alleyoop
