Hello, I have recently bought an Ice Bear 50cc Trike (http://www.megamotormadness.com/product/the-mini-cruzzer-50cc-trike#pr-tab1). I have no clue about how to maintain one of these. I don't even know where the fuel filter is and I need to check it because the trike won't go. The thing starts, but when I hit the throttle the engine shuts off. The electrical system is still on, but not the engine. The battery was tested and is good. I was told to check the carburetor as well, but I don't know how to do that either. Would somebody be able to explain in really plain terms where those things are on this trike and how to get to them? Pictures would be great, if possible. This is my only means of transportation and I really need to figure out how to maintain it properly. ^^;

On those to get at the top of the motor where the carb is I beleive you have to take the bucket out under the seat. So first thing is open the seat and take a pic of the bucket so I can see the few screws that hold it in. There should be maybe about four two in back and maybe two more toward the front. Then you lift the bucket out and you will be able to get at the motor.
Also I will move this to TRIKERS ALLEY Section since it is a TRIKE. Alleyoop

The host your using will not let me copy the pictures to point out some things. You can use PHOTOBUCKET it is free and then you can actually put the pictures right on here like you see me doing. 1. You see the hoses coming from the connectors on the BLACK CURVED piece attach to the motor and the carb is clamped to that. Well I see a VACUUM HOSE on the RIGHT side of the carb as you sit on it that is bent and has a couple of zip ties on it Make sure it is SEALED good if it leaks it will not run right. 2. The other VACUUM hose on the other side SHOULD be attached to the VACUUM connector on your PETCOCK that is attached to the GAS TANK. Here is how the hoses to your PETCOCK should be connected: Don't pay attention to the TAKE THIS OFF that was for another users problem.

Know the other thing that may become a problem is the CARB FUEL RATIO MIXTURE SCREW. On the newer scoots starting in 2012 the carbs came with a PLUGGED FUEL RATIO MIXTURE screw so customers could not adjust the carb WHICH may be the problem. They set them really LEAN to pass emssions and this cold weather the motors need more fuel, so what has to be done is RICHEN up the carb fuel mixture. But if you carbs screw is PLUGGED that is a problem. Then you have TWO choices buy an aftermarket carb or drill out the plug. The plug is about 1/8 of an inch thick and behind it will be the Fuel ratio screw to adjust the carb. Here is what your carb looks like, notice where it points to the FUEL RATIO MIXTURE. So look at your carb and see if it is a FLAT GOLD plug or it has a SCREWDRIVER SLOT.

Okay...the hoses didn't have any holes. I am double-checking the areas you have pointed out. The carb up close looks like it only has screws. Here is a pic of right side as sitting on scooter:

lol...I'm too slow. Found it...looks like a plug. Also...this looks odd to me. I can see quite clearly through this tube.

BUMMER on the plugged Fuel Ratio Screw. You cannot adjust the Carbs Fuel Ratio Mixture which is 99.9 percent your problem. That tube you just put up that is your AIR FILTER tubing. Now since it appears your running lean you can try this COVER ONE OF THE HOLES 4 big holes with some tape and see if it acts better. That will cut some air off and maybe enough fuel to make it run better. BUT you will sooner or later need to Either Get an AFTERMARKET carb with the fuel ratio screw unplugged or YOU can try and drill the plug out. If the later make sure you only drill the plug only 1/8 in otherwise you will hit the screw behind it. Once you drill into the plug you can get a pointed screw and screw it into the hole and pull it out. Alleyoop
