This is one of the reasons i never went for sport bikes in a big way jct,,the effing bodywork,,,,what a pain in my left nut,,i had a ducati 907i.e. that i got for a real song,,so i grabbed it, and i have my hesitations about the vespa i have because of the monocoque construction ,,,and i got a screaming deal on it,,but to be honest i was looking at a used rukus's and rowdy's also because of the open design

A silver pidgeon!!! That's where i saw that bike before,,i read an article on that thing about 4 or 5 months ago.,,,,,i love the looks of the early vespas ,, lambrettas,,,the pidgeon,,,but i like 12 volt electrics disk brakes and modern engines,,,so maybe i'll get lucky and find an old one then buy a running salvage modern scooter and make a resto-rod

A year ago a fellow took a salsbury and stuffed a ninja engine in it and won some sort of cross country scooter run. I really liked that one, but a salsbury even with out an engine you would need to take out a mortgage to afford.
I rode a naked bandit for a bunch of years, 7 I think, selling it in jan of 2010 because my knee was such bad shape. I don't like plastic. I been thinking about an other bike possibly an older goldwing, the naked one or one of the harley looking cruisers (honda or Suz/kaw) with out fairings or windshields. Right now would be a good time to trade off the majesty. A scooter should be simple and easy to service and with all the plastic crap that day is gone. My riva at least the plastic comes off in two pieces each with two screws to remove. And could be ridden with both sides off to check it out. No matter what kind of a machine you ride, it is going to break if you ride it and I don't ever want to have to get under the plastic on that majesty again. (unless you trailer it)
