hello, i own a taotao evo 150, i have 3000 miles on it, it won't stay on unless I press the gas, any advice, could be a bad carburetor, i have already check the fuel lines and the filter and it is getting gas, anybody knows whats wrong?

have you ever adjusted the valves? if not then you are due for it.

Yes, if it will not hold IDLE and you have to keep the throttle open so it idles around 2000RPMS+ then it is the valves. Usually it will be your exhaust valve that is not sealing and is a little open and is loosing compression and the motor will not hold low rpms. Alleyoop

Just curious Alley, what are your gaps on a 150? I use .004" intake and .005 or.006" exhaust cold. If it doesn't click a little at start up it's too tight IMO. It should stop clicking when completely warmed up but better a little ticking and good performance than quiet and runs like crap. Those valves have to seal for compression. Rich

I set both of my valves at .004 inchs. I have a good quality BBK head and I adjusted them at 1000 miles and I adjusted them again at 4000 miles they were pretty good not really tight at all. Right now I have 6K on the BBK and haven't had to adjust them so far. But it all depends on the quality of the head and valves some cheaper ones you will need to adjust them more frequently. Alleyoop

I've found I have to set the exhaust a bit wider because it's hotter. But there is certainly an argument for equal gaps. I think folks have to set them at a gap and see how it does
