did my first oil change today,,,and got the throttle side barend mirror on and it took longer than it should have as USUAL,,but all in all a clean install and i'm happy,,,the vespa has slugs in the bars made of steel so i got rid of the expanding clamps that came on the mirrors and drilled and tapped the slugs and ran a slightly longer 6mm bolt,,,BAM!!!,,,

That sounds like a good solution and I might be wrong but don't the expanding clamps act like shock absorbers? It would seem to me that vibration might become a problem later.

Correct or they actually had bar end weights. I had them in my OE Streetfighter bars. Trying a plethora of Bars with CRG Bar end mirrors before I could get Renthal Road bars in the States I never noticed a difference. May be a issue on a different animal. Ride On! Clone

The ends of the mirrors are weights,, and no issues with vibration,,, at speed the vespa is as smooth as glass enginewise

Funny enough the factory says synthetic on first change,,,i would have thought different Several New Cars come OE with Synthetic. I have not seen a cylinder or piston of a late modelVespa but would venture to guess the recommendation of Synth is Because they are utilizing a Plateau Hone of very fine finish and High Quality thin (.039) or (1mm) Comp. Ring. Not a whole lot to break in there. Do anything but take it easy. Engine Load is the key, Vary the Engine Load, like breaking it in on a Dyno. This type Finish/Ring combo will have a long service life, Especially with a Good Synthetic Oil Ride On! CLone Psst, you should be able to find Maxima at Thousands Oaks M/C M/X Guru Ron Lachine is his Co. (Maxima).

Oh that'll be the first and last time i get oil or any kind of filters from them,,,altho i may patronize them one more time for the dorsoduro,,,,$14,000 bike ,,,leftover 2013 $7400 and change out the door,,,,2 miles on it,,,the vespa only took a quart and a 1/4 so i don't feel too bad,,,but i'll be ready next time with the proper weight maxxima and i'll get a case of filters,,,got 3 from ebay but weren't the correct ones,,,now i have the numbers so there'll be no more mistakes,,,and ebay is the only reason i lean to the italian stuff,,parts are cheap on the bay so the cheap bastard in me gets satisfied,,,i was the only guy to ride ducati at the rockstore when most people didn't even know what it was ,,,and if you can tell i also lean big twins,,,there is nothing like a giant italian twin when you pull the trigger,,,
