I had a ferocious leak on my 1P57QMJ engine for a couple of years. Finally I took off the plastic fan shroud, cleaned every thing off and started it. You can only let it run for a short time like that but if the oil leak is that bad, you'll see where it's dripping from. As I've posted ad nauseum I had cracked the head when I overtightened the small bolts adjacent to the cam tunnel. I had to replace the head and the head gasket for a laughable $50. But I digress. Baring the engine and looking for the source of the leak is the only definitive way to find it unless you're lucky and can find it without removing the shroud. kz, Pretty sure it is the starter clutch cover case gasket. Slowed the leak down last night by tightening the bolds up a bit, but it needs to be replaced ASAP.

You are absolutely right mx matt. Sounds like you need to start over but at least buy the second time you've put the motor back on you will have it right. Hope it works out good for you. Keep us posted if need a second opinion on something people on this sight can be helpful.
Next time you pull all the stuff of leave the plastics of so you can get to it easier like stinky said to retighten the bolts. I need some parts for a kick starter on a gy6 motor for a friend is there anywhere you could point me to find the parts. His starter was full of oil for some reason he said he cleaned it of and it works now but would like the back up kick starter.

Hi guys. I'm dealing with a GY6 150 cc engine in my son's ATV. I just read the engine serial number which is: XP1P57QMJ-2. I can't find anything concrete about what parts will fit from the 157QMJ to my engine. From what I understand, the difference between the two models is in the topend.
HELP!!!!
Do you guys have any reliable information on this??

I heard all this stuff about the difference between a 1P57 and a 157 and asked all over. I replaced the cylinder head on my P motor with a standard head with no trouble. If you look around many vendors will list the dimensions on what they sell but there wasn't any difference that stopped me from doing it. Oddly enough the head I put on makes the scooter feel stronger and that wasn't supposed to be the case.
