This is the remnant of the piece of case gasket that runs across the blank space above the crank:
This is why you have the screen....it saved my CF 150 and 250. If you rebuild an engine cut this piece of gasket out. By the way, this is the way it was from the factory, I don't leave that piece of gasket in a build. Rich

Even my et4 has one,,,THANK GOODNESS,,,it was very clean,,,nothing like that screen,,,geez that thing looks like a bad wig,,,,,

WOW!! Now that is some gaskets coming apart Alleyoop Um....75MPH on the Fashion, 9,600 RPM on the Pegasus....I can't seem to stop myself. They start to wind and just sound better and better. Oh well...that's what a shop is for. So the RPMs took the gasket but still, why don't they take it out at the factory? They could call it the Bashan Effect! I like it! Rich

Mine wasn't as dramatic looking Rich, but the piece of valve spring I found in there was about 3/8" long. Certainly enough to cause some damage in the wrong place.
