I have a new Roman 150 and did my first oil change, in the manual it says that the engine oil capacity is 1 liter, roughly one US Quart.... I drained the engine (both plugs), filled the engine with 1,000 cc's of oil and without screwing the deep stick in the oil line is way passed the XXXXXX marks, that is on a level surface, on center stand and with the front wheel on the ground . Is the deep stick the wrong one has anyone experienced the same condition ? I thank you in advance for your reply and info...

The capacity of a GY6 is about 7/8 of a quart. One quart is too much.

Also when you drain the oil NOT all of it comes out, there is oil left in the passages and some in the valve cover. The way to do it is put oil in about 3/4 of a quart and check it the dip stick without screwing it in. If the oil level shows half way up the XXXXXXXs you are good. Also make it a habit to check your oil before going for a ride it only takes 1 minute, I use a oil can full of oil just in case it needs a little topping off. Alleyoop

I do .9 Quart on 150s, it always comes out close. I've gone over this but it bears repeating...I think. When you check your oil the dipstick is at an acute angle. A significant bit of lateral movement on the dip stick translates into a small amount of vertical movement as far as real oil levels:
So if you're a little bit above the XXX's, don't worry, same with a little below the top XXX's. A lot? Drain or add depending. The manuals are a general guideline, you have to adapt to real world applications, the manuals are Chinese. Rich

Scoots from my experience don't take much oil mine takes a quart and just a little bit more from another quart I have over filled mine and had to drain some oil. Kz is probley right on seven eighths of a quart pluss I heard other people on here say don't screw down the dip stick. My scooter has a sight glass.

Over filling these things can screw them up so yes it is important to put the right amount in them. I wonder if he got it figured out?
