My wife has a Rocketa MC-17-150 scooter. Last summer, she laid it down at low speed. She was shaken up but mostly unhurt. She called me and I was able to start the scooter and get it home for her. It's been garaged ever since. A couple of weeks ago, I charged the battery and tried to start it. It turns over just fine but there seems to be absolutely no spark. My first inclination is to pull and clean the plug. After much searching and consternation, I finally found the spark plug boot. But, I was unable to access with a socket to remove the plug. So, here are my questions...
First, for those familiar with this scooter, do you think I'm on the right track? I've considered the possibility that after sitting for so long, there might be a fuel issue. But, I think if that were the case, it would at least TRY to fire.
Second, do I need to completely remove the cowling to pull the plug? If so, what a PITA (reminiscent of the early 80's Ford Mustang with a V8. You had to loosen the motor mounts and lift the engine to change the plugs).
Third, does anyone know of an online source to find a service/repair manual for this scooter? I've searched, but so far every potential source I've found wants me to download and install their document converter before even letting me see if they have the manual I need. I'm not that trusting... Any help you folks could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, in advance.

welcome to the sight. alley or basham will point you in the right direction there pretty good at quacking this sight. But if it were me I would check for spark put plug connected to cdi boot and put up against engine. If you got spark then check you are getting gas from a wet plug inside the cylinder. If no gas on the plug then yes your gas might of went bad from not using it for some period of time. If that is the case then you will need carb cleaner and squirt all of the holes real good. Probley wouldn't be a bad idea to drain the gas and put a new fuel filter on.
For the cover over your engine and not being able to get the spark plug out if covering it then yes I would believe you need to pull that of also.
Hope I was somewhat of a help and good luck sure one of the other guys will be on soon. welcome

Here is the manual: But to get to the plug is there a access panel to the top of the motor under the seat? Also is there an access panel in front just before the seat? If it was sitting for a long time with gas in the carb, the Pilot Jet tiny holes by the butterfly may be varnished up and clogged. What you can try to see if it is a fuel problem, you will see a VACUUM hose coming off the intake manifold take that off and squirt some gas directly into the GOLD connector on the INTAKE MANIFOLD not much it does not take a lot. Put the hose back on and try to start it. If the spark plug is firing it will attempt to start and may start and die. IF SO then we know it is just a fuel delivery problem and you will most likely have to take the carb off and clean out ALL the passages in the carb. If you get the front cover off, the one under the seat, you can get to the sparkplug but it's tight. Use the small plug socket with an extension that doesn't come out too far. It's putting it back IN that's a real grind. Your working blind at an angle trying to get a thread started. I just got good at taking plastic off, you end up spending less time.
Manuals are not specific for certain scooters like a Chevy Tahoe or something like that. You have to use the generic manuals with a grain of salt, adapt and react. This one should be close. Rich

Before you tear it apart make sure the kill switch is in the "Run" position. It will stop spark.
