I am having "take back to dealer" anxiety lol, I have Piaggio number ready to call, but just don't want them tearing my beloved scoot apart and trying to fix it. I am a prof Auto tech by trade, and am very particular about anyone else working on my bike s. If I could just get a new mill I would be happy. No mistaking there is an abnormal noise in the motor. Wonder if I call Piaggio if I could make that happen - biggest fear is getting it back from the dealer with more probs than it had now. Gord

Well. the bike only has 700 miles on it, no I started at 100 miles. what is the best way to check timing chain tension? I did the valve adjustment on it and did not see anything out of the ordinary- I see there is a tensioner shoe but it does not seem to be adjustable

Hey, ty! Sounds like mine has a top end rhythmical rattle right at the cylinder idling cold, then stops after about 5 minutes. Wish I could figure out how to isolate it from the variator, but the noise is right at the cyl???

Hey, thank you for the input. Totally convinced that I have a "top end" knock cold. Bike sat at dealer 8 months before I purchased with 1 mile on the clock. Hear it all the time, till it reaches op temp, very obvious. Tried contacting Piaggio America's through their email link, get no response. Need to find the number to contact them, it is not readily available on the site. If you know it, please pass it on. Thanks to all for replying, gord

Please help. New guy here. Have a 2013 gts vesp. At 100 miles developed a cold "piston slap" type noise, can be heard directly at cylinder with stethoscope, goes away after a few minutes of riding. Not comming from transmission side of case, but right at cylinder. I can hear it from 20 feet away idling. Dealer tried to sell me a valve adjustment, so I did it myself. Perfect valve lash set at .004 int, and ,006 exh. Dealer says live with it. Bike sat for about 8 months at dealer before I bought it. Did the first oil and filter change, at 630 mi, nothing unusual to report in the screen. I am an Auto Mech by trade, and if this is normal I cannot believe it, sounds just like piston slap to me, then goes away hot. Not comming from variator rollers. I am particular and don't want the dealer ripping my ride apart, am about to do it myself/ any experiences or help would be greatly appreciated, thank you, Gord
