Bashan, The guy I got this buggy from has some aftermarket headlights on it. I have them disconnected because I'm worried they may be the cause of the stator failure, I don't want to cook my new stator.
Is there a way to see if they are pulling too many amps or am I being too careful?

Drilled out the jet some more and got it running pretty good. I know it doesn't make sense but it worked.
Bashan, I took another look at the peep hole, there is no possible way to see timing marks on this motor without taking the stator cover off.
I suspect maybe it has a larger stator than what the peep hole was designed for. I can only see the lip of the magnet.

Believe it or not I use my 1 HP floor model drill press..lol The trick is to feed the drill slowly. I was free hand drilling carbon fiber rod when I broke the other bits. I can drill brass jets all day long with no issues. My pin vise is frozen solid from lack of use.

Wow! I don't think it's possible to see that through my peep hole..lol All I could see was the edge. Maybe the engine cradle is in the way on the buggy.
I have some semi good news. I drilled the jet out a little more and now it revs with the air box installed. WOOHOOO!! It's still too lean though, red exhaust pipe and backfire after a WOT run and the plug is white.
I need to go bigger but of course those drill bits are the ones I broke. I suspect I'm going to end up somewhere near a 138.

Trust me I see the contradiction. It goes against all conventional knowledge..lol That's why I'm on this forum talking to people with experience on this motor.
I did try leaving the auto choke/enricher unplugged. From a cold start to normal operating temperature it made no difference. I Plugged the auto choke back in, turned the key on, and watched it extend. Took about 5 minutes.
My crappy arse flip phone takes pictures so blurry on small things that you wouldn't be able to tell what you were looking at. Is there something specific you are looking for?
It will not rev with the with the air box all together but it will rev some if I take the airbox cover off but leave the filter on

Here's the thing, when I first got it running it seemed to run great, till the auto choke fully extended.

When I was adjusting the valves I had both peep holes open, I could not see a single mark on the fly wheel or the timing chain gear. They are there but they are almost invisible. I'll get some pix of them tomorrow.I figured there had to be something there I just couldn't find it.

Liduno, if you do drill out a jet too far...just solder it shut and start over. When a dog ended the life of my 150 it had over 5000 miles on a soldered over jet. I was always going to order the correct size but I forgot what drill bit I used. Got several sets of oraface drills. 3 I think. I doubt I would be able to solder it without turning the whole thing into a giant blob of solder..lol I can solder 2 wires together and occasionally get a piece of copper pipe to not leak, but that tiny little jet would be a challenge.

Man that would suck...lol
I used the straw trick to find TDC when I was adjusting the valves and I could see the valves opening through the spark plug hole so I new I was on the right stroke. I also watched the flywheel through a few full rotations looking for A mark of any kind.
Any chance the mark has worn off over time? Is it just a line or does it say TDC? Or just the letter T?
It's quite the project to get the CVT cover off this thing to turn it over by hand. I know because to set the valves without the engine running you have to 1-Get it to TDC 2-Move the adjuster till you feel tension from the valve 3- Back it off a half click.
After I had it running and up to temp I did the adjustment the easier way. 1-Backing off till it clicks 2-Moving it till the clicking stops.
I had marked the adjuster when I did it the first time, with the engine not running. The results were the same.

Bashan I did see the fire arrest style intake and it is clear. The filter looks like new. I would think if it was clogged it would be super rich.
