Thank you alleyoop. Also on adjusting the valves can turn the engine until one valve is open and set the opposite valve? Or do I need to be at tdc?

I have it running now it is just very hard to start when cold (have to use carb cleaner sprayed in the carb to get it to fire off), when it is warmed up I can crack the throttle and get it to crank. When it is running it runs really well (road tested ot to over 40 mph), it is just when the rear brake is held for longer than 30 seconds to a minute it dies. it is still idling high and spinning the rear tire, it idles around 5 miles an hour. What am I doing wrong. I set the idle mixture 2 turns out and then turned it counterclockwise 1/4 turn at a time until it raised the idle then tried setting the idle down and still having the problem with the rear wheel braking causing the engine to die. Have not had a chance to reset the valves yet, maybe that is affecting the starting problem.

The base setting for the idle screw is two full turns out from bottom. And thanks for the advise on the valves , I will do that before I get to adjusting the carb

I have a new one on order, should be here next week. The clear lines is a good idea. Thank you both. As soon as I vet it installed I will update.

It does rev up nice and quick and comes right down, then starts climbing after idling for a couple of minutes. I noticed raw fuel in the manifold when I pulled the carb off. It looks to be leaking from the vacuum port on the side of the manifold, it connects to the fuel pump vacuum line. Could it be a busted diaphragm in the pump leaking fuel down the vacuum line?? I have a video of it running but I will have to load it when I get home tonight from work

I got everything tight and reconnected and still having the same problem. Turned the ratio screw out 2 turns out from bottom. I noticed when I pulled the carb and manifold off that there is an o ring on the carb then a plastic spacer but no gasket on the spacer to the head. Is there suppose to be a gasket. Could this be a problem??? Or could it be the fuel pump overloading the carb?
Thank you for all the help

I also found this wire lose, what is it for? Also where can I get a kill switch/throttle assembly for a united motors gp1r? The tab that holds the throttle from spinning is broken off and the throttle assembly will spin with the handle. Thank You for all the help
