Well after going through the process of troubleshooting the new harness, I still can't figure out what's wrong with it. It's definitely going "click" at the solenoid, but why, I don't know. I'm so flustered... So next is to switch out the old harness with the new one and see if I'm having the same problem. If not then Idk, maybe splice the new cdi plug onto the old harness, cause that's the problem that I was having. Oh and I checked the connection going to that plug and couldn't find any problem.

Okay, well the connection from the bulbs to the harness was not changed, but I can see what you mean. And do you have any ideas as to what's going on with the "click" when I try to start?

Okay, well how could I check that? And once I fix that, then I shouldn't have that problem again? Also, do you have a hypothesis as to why this only showed up now? I've put probably 200 miles (or kilometers not sure which is on the odometer, think it's km) since I changed the harness, and now this happened?

What wattage bulbs are/were in it? That looks like something that would happen if running too strong of a bulb. I honestly don't know. The stock bulbs? Lemme check. It says 12V18/18W

Ok, so I'm new to this forum but have been following it for a while and it has helped me. Ok, so I have a Peace 50 Dash Vip (804) 50cc scooter with a Gy6 engine. So my problems started the other day with my starter. I would hit the start button and it would whine (not engage with the gear). So i could just tap the button a couple times and it would then engage and start to turn over and start. Well, day before yesterday, it did that, and no matter what i couldn't get the starter to engage. (also i bought the scooter used and it didn't have a kick starter) so i had a friend pick me up and bring me home. the next day i had to get my scooter to my brothers house where my tools are and for sh*ts and giggles i went out and hit the starter button and it started, so i drove it to my brothers, about 13 miles, a 15-20 min ride. In the morning, i went out and proceeded to change the started out with a new one that i had purchased the day i had a friend come and rescue me. so i change the starter out, and it has the same problem. spinning but not engaging. well, i tap it and tap it and it engages and starts, and so i needed to run up to the store (.5 miles) to get a drink, so i let it warm up and go inside to call my dad, (mechanic of 40 yrs, minor motorcycle mechanic, electronic engineer BA) (and I'm an ASE certified mechanic for Cars and trucks, American, with 15 yrs of experience working on vehicles) and I'm on the phone for about 15 mins. hang up and walk outside and the scooter is smoking from under the headlight fairing, and smelling of burnt plastic. i immediatly turn it off, and proceed to inspect the fairing and take it off, figuring there was some sort of short = to a burnt wire. well as soon as i take of the main fairing, i notice that the Bright headlamp connection place is melted and that is what the burning is from. so i try and start the scooter cause, idk, and it wont start. there is a click, (most likely from the starter solenoid and all power is gone. no head light, nothing. so, i call my dad and he said most likely there is a dead short. (side note, i had a problem bout a week ago where the cdi's rubber holder broke and it fell onto the muffler and melted the connector, so i had to order a new wire harness and cdi, so i has a new wire harness) so i proceed to check all the connectors and wires for melting, or somewhere where the system could've shorted ( like a cut wire or such) and couldn't find anything. so frustrated, i decided, (again for sh*ts and giggles) to hook the batter back up and hit the starter. It starts to turn over, and blows my mind. So, i start trying to disconnect things to recreate the problem i had of it just going "click" and losing all power, and nothing will recreate. so, i leave it alone, cause my dad is coming over in about an hour before he heads out of town, and when he gets here i go to show him whats going on with the starter, and it goes "click" and nothing. (also, i found out that if i left the scooter alone, with the key off, for about 10 mins or so, it would have power when i turned it on, but just go "click". so he was in a rush, and couldn't look at it, so its back to me. Now, today, i came over with the intentions of trouble shooting the electrical system, starting with the solenoid. So, i tried starting it first off, and the click, loss of power and nothing. (btw the fuse right off the battery is still good, and its a new battery) so after that i couldnt get any jumper across the solenoid, even if i disconnect the wire from the starter and the positive terminal and touch them together. so, im at a loss, could you masters of the scooters please help me. i think the solenoid is bad after reading through a few threads on here, but that still doesnt explain why the melting in the first place. i will post a picture of the headlamp shortly, and an update as to if i can get it to jumper. Thanks in advance. (Sorry for the book, just wanted to be as desriptive as possible)
