Help kinda stumped? well the elite runs good on center stand runs kinda rough at first the engine shakes a good bit. But once warmed up it runs good on center stand give it throttle it is responsive and runs good. I do not have the air filter hooked up because trying to figure out the problem.
Here is the problem once scooter is of the center stand and on pavement and you give it gas it is real shaky it like bogs out and wont but does not stall it seams like the power is not going to the pavement like something in the cvt is wrong it is making a clunking sound?
I got the cvt cover of and there is a new belt on there and it is very tight would that be a problem? I would think that wouldn't affect the noise it is making in the cvt but I do not no?
I do not know how to check the diff fluid on this modle if there was to much fluid or no fluid could that be something it could be?
If anyone knows the belt number for this scooter please tell me.
Also the engine shakes in there about a quarter inch is that normal?
When I picked this scooter up last week the guy I bought it from said it had an ebay engine put in it after the original engine went.
So all and all theres been a couple of monkeys working on bike.
If anyone has any thoughts or ran into any of these problems in the past let me no your insight.

Scooter junky update
Well just tried to start it again with my paper towl air filter make shift air cleaner. I took that out it started up was hard at first but once running after a minit or two it ran fine and would take throttle after taking out paper towl.
I tried taking it up the street once the wheels were on the ground and gave it gas it was super shaky like it wanted to stall. It would like pull stall out pull stall out and was jerky jerky.
There is a cluncking ratling like sound coming from the cvt I am thinking it might have the wrong belt or something put together wrong? The guy I bought it from said he put a new belt into it. I am thinking mabey the belt is too big?
I will be looking at it again tomarrow.
That is all the progess for the day things are looking up and the old elite might have a fighting chance after some kemo.
Scooter riders beware in Pittsburgh the old elite might get another day to roll soon. People are going to see that old girl and get scared and pull there scooters in the garage.

Scooter junky update
Clean out tank pretty good went threw carb pretty good and cleaned jets and stuff. Put a new fuel line on.
problems intake boot cracked real bad put some sealer on it for now, It will not start now, I am thinking it is not getting gas.
Question when gas tank is off will the petcock on the bottom of tank leak gas? I am thinking it is gravity fead to the carb. Also there is only a throttle adjustment screw and another screw close to the bottom of carb before the bowl it was one and a half turns out from closed position. Also the carb has a in and out of radiator fluid hooked on the side? Also when you twist the throttle the slide in the carb does nothing just sits there when you push it up it makes a noise. The slide is nothing at all like a dirt bike carb where the throttle cable hooks up to the slide and the top screws on.
Well kinda stumpt at the moment.
Calling all scooter junkies for there to sence if any.

I am going to mess with it a little today I will start with those things. Got to get carb of some new fuel lines broke one yesterday. I hope I can get this scooter going it looks weird but very well built it is even liquid cooled. Thanks cyborg I will be getting more into it today.

Hello fellow scooter junkys I just purchased an old elite a couple days ago and thought I would put my two sence in there and see if you folks think I am going in the right direction.
I bought a scooter cheap and thought it would be a great project and scooter some day. Well about scooter the baterie is getting a slow charge now fast charge wasn't enough to get it running. The scooter starts up but once you give it throttle it stalls. The gas tank smells like paint thiner so I took it of and drained it.
Basically I was thinking about putting new gas in it and trying but thinking the carb might need cleaned. Anyone with elite experience or think I am going the right derection or point me in the right direction would be apriciated.
I have not been on this sight for a long time and is shocked about bashan. |
