My last post here was about my plan to ride my Piaggio 50 cross country. I did it. I'm now in Oregon about 30 miles from the coast. What I've been thinking about is a trip down the coast to San Francisco once it warms up a bit. Looking for anyone that knows if I can ride the Pacific coast highway all the way. I'll be camping and figure 2 to 3 weeks round trip. I will be starting in Florence, Oregon.

Hello all. If everything goes as planned I'm starting out on a cross country (Virginia to Washington state) journey in the next week or so. My ride is a '19 Piaggio Liberty 50 with around 1200 miles. I'm figuring on the trip taking around a month. I have tools, some spare parts, and a gas can. If anyone has any suggestions I would be grateful.

Thanks guys. I am looking at the different Genuine models. The thing that kind of worries me about the Buddy is the 2 stroke engine. I haven't dealt with one of those in a long time. The Venture, which I read is their newest model, appeals to me with the bigger wheels and a 4 stroke liquid cooled. Of course that would mean more stuff that could break. I know I'm over thinking this but if I'm going to plop down better than $2k I just want to make sure I'm not pushing it home. Thanks again for the help.

Well I've finally figured out, after over a year, that my Peace Sports 50 is a piece of junk Here in Charleston I've found a Bintelli dealer (I believe they're based here) and another one that sells Genuine and Wolf scooters. I need to stick with the "license free" size. Above all I need something reliable. After that would be ease of getting parts and maintaining it: changing belt, clutch, oil, etc. Something with a little kick to it, when mine is running right I do 35 to 40 mph, at least that's what the speedometer tells me. On top of all that it would be nice if it lasted a few years. From what I can tell I would be coming out of pocket around $2k, which would be well worth it to not end up on the side of the road on a regular basis. Any suggestions /recommendations will be appreciated.

I would have never thought of either of those. I'll check them out. Thanks to the both of you for the ideas.

Thanks kz. I have one more problem I want to see if anyone is willing to take a guess about. Like I said before I have 6000 miles on it and I've had it for about a year and a half and it's had this problem since I bought it. Riding along it will start to lose power like it gets bogged down then it will cut off. After I let it sit for a minute it will start up and run fine. It's wildly intermittent though. It might happen a couple of times on a 5 mile ride or I might go a couple of weeks with no problems. Of course every time I take it to the shop it's running fine. I believe there may be a piece of trash somewhere in the fuel system but I'm far from being a pro at these things. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Thanks for the advice cyborg but apparently I was way off. Did a routine change of the clutch and variator this weekend and it's running much better. One of the reasons I asked the question was I was trying to get get some informed opinions about how many miles/months/years I can expect to get out of the carburetor. Plus any other maintenance tips anyone had to offer. Thanks again

I have 6k miles on a Peace Sports 50. In the last few weeks I have a definite loss of power and the engine hesitates a lot while riding. It also feels like the choke is acting up I've had it for around a year and a half and the carburetor has never been worked on My thoughts are to just get a new one instead of getting it rebuilt Or I could be off completely about what I think is wrong with it Wanted to get some opinions from folks who know a lot more about these things than I do.

I have no doubt this question has been asked before but I would like some opinions on 150 cc scooters. I currently have a Thunder 50 which is creeping up on 10k miles. I would like to upgrade to a 150 if I can find one for $1500 or less. My priorities, in order, are 1- reliability, 2- longevity, 3- performance. Thanks for any useful input.
