Per last post. Ran the scooter on the stand with the cover off. The Variator expands the belt as rpms increase; the rear pulley expands i.e. belt further into pulley. Again with no load the engine revs to a considerably higher rpm than when I am riding it. It appears that something else prevents the engine from going to full rpm when riding. ?

Now in addition to all the other items, I have just installed a new clutch and belt with the same result. I can hold the scooter from moving at full throttle. On the stand with no load the rpm is considerably higher and the back wheel just hums it is turning so rapidly. Any additional ideas? T.Bell

Check the clutch and spring assembly in the rear.

Being a first time scooter owner, I am unaware of how to proceed. Are you referring to the centrifugal clutch and how would I determine if the belt and clutch are the issue i.e why does the engine rev adequately with no load? T.zbell

History: 2009 Peace Sports 50 cc. not used from 2013 to Apr 2017. 1500 miles on odometer. Top speed 13-15 mph. Drained and cleaned tank and tank filter; new gas line and filter; new QMB 139 carb; new 16x13 4 gram variator rollers; and new spark plug. Top speed 20-22 mph. On the stand it revs to what I would consider a very good rpm, but off the stand I can hold the scooter still at full throttle. The parts are from PartsForScooters and the advice from inquiries here last April. All I need is to quickly get to 30 mph. Help. T.Bell

Finally got the carb put together correctly and reinstalling several times to remember where the hoses went. Anyway, success with both the original carb as well as the new one I purchased (the new one is somewhat better). The scooter now goes 30 mph which is adequate for the use I have for it (although I thought the 50 cc scooters were supposed to go 40-45. Thanks for your advice and help without which would have turned a bad purchase into trash for the garbage man. T.Bell

Put the "O" ring in the correct place, reinstalled, and started scooter with the help of some starter fluid. It was difficult to get it above idle, but revving it gently and it finally made me smile for the first time since I got this scooter. However, it seemed to choke out and die at which point raw gas started running out the air box for a minute or two (maybe a couple of tablespoons). After it sat while I changed oil and gear lube it started, but again would not Rev up for a bit. I leT it idle until it choked out and them came the gas. What now?

Removed carb, cleaned, and reinstalled. The only part I was not sure where it came from was a tiny (3/26") O ring so I guessed. I checked suction from manifold which seemed adequate and made sure vacuum opened the gas valve. I also cleaned the gas valve tube into the tank which was scuzzy. When I tried to restart the scooter gas comes out of the throat of the carb. ?? The carb is an HK CVK. What are the odds of getting one that matches?

Got new 4 gram rollers, fuel filter, and hose from Scooter Parts. It is back together, starts, and runs. I now cannot get the engine to Rev to what my ear would tell me is full throttle - it seem to log a bit at full throttle. Although the scooter has roughly 1600 hundred mile on it is was not used since 2014. Apparently the carb still has old fuel residue and I am reluctant to order a kit as there is no discernible numbers I can see so the only I'D is 2009 Bashan 49 cc Peace Sports. Any "mechanic in a can" that you have used in the carb or added to the fuel that I could try before removing the carb?

I'll order some 4 gram weights to achieve low end torque and top speed of 25 mph (the speed limit in my community). Still worried about RPM's though. Thanks for your patience with a neophyte scooter owner. T.
