picked one up a couple years ago, it was pretty rough. have rebuilt or made body parts, it looks pretty good. got it running, ran great, but after every 20 miles i had to charge the battery. stator output was less than 5 volts. got a new stator and installed it. tried to fir it up...no spark. changed CDI and rectifier. stll no spark. checked all my wiring over carefully. cant find anything wrong. got looking, no juice coming from CDI to coil. after a week of digging i found new stator has no ground wire. could this be why its not working right? voltages from stator arent very high either, 26-60 at best am considring putting a ground wire on stator. should i?
