I finally got around to looking at this thing after a CRAZY year. I've humbled up a bit as well since my last posts, my title was unnecessary and immature. Im 26 and still learning every day. Here's an update on what's happened so far. I pulled all wiring diagrams I could find on any VOG260 engine and got to learning. I scoped the stator and did find a weird pulse, more then likely what's pictured. I know this bend in the ferrous plating is the death of every electric motor I've torn apart at work. After I found this I stopped testing and ordered a bunch of parts. I do know that the voltage regulator wasn't charging the battery at this point. I'm betting there are more than one issues that have been at play here. I'm guessing here but my money is on the regulator failed and stopped putting out DC voltage. This probably caused the CDI modules to fail. The stator issue is probably seperate from this. I'm replacing the stator and pick up coil, the rectifier-regulator, CDI module, and ignition coil, then will try to ride it to work for a couple of weeks. While everything is apart, I plan to ohm out all of the connections in between everything to verify my theory and make sure there isn't a short. There are also quite a few connections across the wiring harness that I'm going to remove the factory crimp connections on and replace with solder and weather-proof shrink wrap. Should I find success I'll post an update and I'll be sure to document stuff as I go along to share what I find.

Doing more digging, these are NOT CDI systems, they are TCI. The TCI modual gets the ignition signal from the stator, and cuts power to the coil primary winding charging the secondary winding, firing the plug.
With that in mind, i need to watch the signal on the stator pickup, coil primary, and CDI power wire.
I am going to order a new CDI (It's bugging me calling it that, since it's not a CDI system) new coil, and new stator, all of which I've just found my favorite parts website now carries for my scooter! I'll post pictures of the data I pull from the lab scope when I look at it this weekend

If it runs then dies then restarts again after turn off and on I think it's a short somewhere,,,it may very well be the ignition switch,,I said this before electronics just fail they usually don't go intermittent ,,,it's fine or it's broken,,, Only it doesn't do it with any other CDI. If I go take my lab scope and hook up to that CDI and shake it I bet you i can watch the signal drop.

Kz is on it as usual it may very well be a loose connector or wire or a ground may be loose,,especially if all the electrics shut down The electronics don't all shut down on a bump, it acts like the CDI dies, if you turn the key off, back on, and try starting again it starts.

The Linhai CDI I bought worked for maybe 5 minutes, enough to get it started and try going down my half mile long drive way. It died at the end but until it died the scooter ran like it did the day I bought it. Once it died, I put the CDI I accidentally bought for the wrong vehicle, and well my OP has the rest. Im ordering a new coil on payday as well just in case the two I have are killing the CDI, as I know one of them overheats and shuts down frequently. The Linhai CDI I just bought is 100% dead. I tried it again last night and had no spark.

Hey are you sure the pickup coil isn't funky,,,usually cdi's either work or they're broke If it's funky, it's only funky with the Bighorn CDI I accidentally bought. The Linhai CDI I just got from Sunright, that I just found for $13 on another website, after Sunright charged me $50, worked perfect until I got a half mile down the road. Just like the last one, the bike shut down and never restart, checked spark and it had none. Popped the Bighorn CDI I have in and it fired right up, kind of. With the Bighorn CDI it misses every once in a while at idle and really misses on the throttle, and shuts down whenever you hit a bump. Really weird for solid state electronics to be effected by a bump, but so far this whole bike has been weird.

The bike is a Aeolus 300 and as you might imagine from my title, I'm having issues getting a working CDI. The Linhai branded CDI I just purchased from Sunright is DOA, and a CDI I have for another engine, not my Linhai 275cc, works kind of sorta. I need to find a CDI that works, I don't care about cost so a 9000rpm race/performance CDI and coil will work, i just need help deciding which brand and source is the right buy. Thanks in advanced guys.

Be careful you may cause a lean condition and it'll run worse or make the stumble more pronounced May? Lol no, the issues are from a lean condition.

So did you get it up and running? Yes, I even rode it 20 miles to work today. There's a new issue, I'm thinking its related to replacing the stock air cleaner that broke with a high flow conical filter. For now it runs fine as long as I'm gentle. If I open the throttle up it misses.

I have a 2008 Linhai Aeolus 300 that died on the side of the road. I replaced the coil, CDI unit, and took the seat off to gain access to the engine to reattach the carb after it slipped out of the intake manifold. I now have a connecter with 3 wires, purple to the CDI, orange to the coil, and black negative. I found it near the gas cap and cannot see a male connector for this female plug. Anyone have any ideas? I don't really want to take the plastics covering the forks off to dig for this guy, but I have a feeling he's on there somewhere. I'd be very happy to be wrong! Electronic fuel pump! Which mine is not equipped with.

Could be a plug for an alarm,,and it disables the cdi when it goes off Its a factory plug, these did not come equipped with alarms.
